Celeste motioned him over, “Come here
Liam walked over, “What’s up?”
Celeste made him lay his head on her lap and pressed her fingers against his temples, “Just gonna give you massage”
With the scent, Liam buried his face in her embrace and closed his eyes
Celeste’s fingers worked their magic, her massage skills were top–notch and it didn’t take long before Liam’s headache eased
“I overheard you talking with Chester”
Celeste brought it up
Liam simply grunted, “Don’t bother about him.”
Celeste touched his chin, stubbly with facial hair, “Are you upset because of what he said?”
Liam was taken aback, then laughed.
Celeste was puzzled, “What’s so funny?”
Liam said, “You think I’m upset because I’m torn between her and you, don’t you?”
“Isn’t that the case?”
Liam took her hand and placed it on his forehead. “You don’t know her at all. This isn’t some pity trick, she’s forcing my hand. This time she involved Chester’s mother, next time she might disturb Mason or Nicolas’s family. She’ll use everyone close to me who’s unaware of the truth to put pressure on me it’s not something to be proud of to let everyone know about family problems, she’s just betting I’ll take her back for the sake of saving face.”
Skyler was selfish, vain and arrogant. Even if she’s unwilling, she wouldn’t beg Liam after being kicked out of the Reed family. What she wanted was for Liam to take her back himself, giving her the respect she craved.
Liam knew her too well, just like when his father refused to help her family out of a mess, she quarreled with his father and left home in anger
No matter how much the Reed family pleaded, she refused to return, but kept hinting through his father’s friends that her baby was unstable and she had severe morning sickness.
A pregnant woman, about to give birth, not staying with her husband but wandering outside, once this news spreads, regardless of the reason, the blame would ultimately fall on the Reed family.
And this matter eventually ended with his father giving in.
Now the same trick was being used on him, Liam found it both pathetic and ridiculous.
Ever since she treated Celeste harshly, Skyler’s love for him had disappeared from his heart.

Celeste rubbed his head, “So why are you upset?”
Liam said. “Just seeing Chester put me in a bad mood, that’s all.”
Celeste was a bit surprised. She was puzzled, “Why? Weren’t you guys on good terms before?”

“Would you invite him to your house if you were just okay? Celeste caught him off guard, “When we first got married, he used to come over quite a bit.”
Celeste laughed. “They even complimented my desserts.”
Hearing this made Liam even more downcast, “What does he know! He doesn’t deserve to eat my wife’s desserts!”
Celeste was speechless. She was certain, Liam must have had too much to drink, if he were sober, he wouldn’t say such harsh words.
