Celeste hung around outside for a good while before going in.
No idea how Mason got past that hurdle, but it seemed like Liam lost another round of the game after she left his face was redder than before, probably downed a few more drinks.
Liam didn’t have a clue about his own tolerance for alcohol.
Celeste texted Owen to pick up Liam, worried he’d get wasted and start talking gibberish.
“Draw one”
Mason handed her the box of cards, whispering. I’ll take you home after this round”
“As long as you’re having fun, I can just take a cab Celeste said while drawing a card.
Mason chuckled, “If I let you go alone, all my efforts tonight will go down the drain.”

Celeste wanted to say that nobody would notice such a small detail, but the new round started before she could.
She decided to bring it up after the game
In the game “Who’s the Spy“, the rules were simple. Everyone drew a slip of paper and described the word written on it. One person had a different word from the others Everyone tried to guess who that person was, and if they guessed right, that person lost. If they guessed wrong, that person won.
The loser of the game had to cover all the hotel expenses for the night for the wedding guests, excluding the wedding itself.
And this was a high–end hotel, so the stakes were quite high.
Upon hearing the game’s penalty, Trisha immediately wanted to bail
Nicolas grabbed her, “What are you scared of? If you lose, I’ll foot the bill.”
Trisha didn’t believe him, “You’ll probably bolt if I lose, won’t you?
Nicolas laughed, pulled out a car key from his pocket, and handed it to her, “Here’s my car key. Is that good enough?”
Trisha quickly pocketed the key. “If I lose, I’ll sell your car to pay.”
Nicolas chuckled, whispering, “Okay, then you owe me ten years of cooking”
Trisha retorted, “How about a lifetime of cooking for you?”
Nicolas immediately replied, “Deal”
Not only was Trisha afraid to lose, but Celeste was too.
A normal suite for one night in this seven–star hotel was over a grand, and if it was fully booked, just the room cost would be tens of thousands
Making money was hard, and Celeste was debating whether to drop out.
Mason seemed to have read her mind, smiling. “Relax and have fun. If you lose, I’ll cover it
Liam gave Celeste a dark look, clearly meaning, “Don’t you dare!”
Celeste found it amusing- he hadn’t even started pursuing her yet and was already showing such strong possessiveness.
Of course, she wouldn’t let Mason pay if she lost. She valued money too much to let herself lose.
When Mason said this, she just smiled and said, “Let’s see how it goes.”
A dozen people sat around a table, starting with the groom and ending with the bride
