“Alright,” Mrs. Kelley gave a small smile, “Looking forward to working with you.”
Celeste stopped her, “Can I ask, how do you plan on getting back at your husband?”
Mrs. Kelley used to always flaunt her husband, always going on and on about him at gatherings with other ladies, showing off her love life, which made her come off as a bit immature.
When she told Mrs. Kelley about her husband’s affair, Mrs. Kelley didn’t react She thought Mrs. Kelley was going to just swallow her pride and live with it, who knew Mrs. Kelley was plotting revenge all this time.
Every time the matter was brought up, Mrs Kelley’s face would darken, “Im going to make him completely trust me, depend on me, can’t live without me, and then I’ll personally push him into hell”
Mrs. Kelley really was going all out with her love and hate.
Just as she hung up the call with Mrs. Kelley, the doorbell rang.
Trisha ran to open the door in her slippers, soon after, footsteps could be heard Celeste didn’t look up, continuing to edit Trisha’s resume, “Who is
it?
“It’s me,” a gentle voice came, Celeste was taken aback, “Mr. Fletcher?”
Mason was holding flowers, smiling gently, “I came unannounced, I hope I didn’t disturb you.”
“Of course not,” Celeste quickly stood up, clearing the clutter on the sofa, “Have a seat, I’ll go make you something to drink.”
Trisha, who had a good impression of Mason, volunteered, “You chat with Mr. Fletcher, I’ll prepare the drinks.”
Mason handed her a bouquet, “No need to be so formal. There were some things I wanted to discuss with you after we parted last night, but I couldn’t get through your phone, so I was a bit worried. I happened to be in the neighbourhood today and thought I’d drop by to check on you”
Celeste took the flowers, joking. “You bought flowers on your way here?”
Mason chuckled, “It’s my first time at your place, I couldn’t come empty–handed, right? I saw a flower shop on the way, so I bought a bouquet, you have so many flowers at home, I figured flowers would be a safe choice.”
Celeste was touched by his thoughtfulness, she gently said, “Thank you, I love them.”
“Have a seat, I’ll find a vase for the flowers.”
Mason nodded.
He looked around the room, his gaze landing on the “Phoenix Fire” poster on the wall.
He stared at Celeste’s picture for a while before finally looking away.
He turned to see Celeste on her tiptoes, reaching for a vase on the shelf, but she was too short and couldn’t reach it. She was just about to move a chair when the light above her dimmed, a hand reached over her head and took down the vase
“Why is it so high up?” Mason put the vase on the table, gently saying. “This shelf isn’t secure yet, if someone bumps into it, it could fall and hit someone. It’s quite dangerous.”
Celeste said, “Nope, it wasn’t me who placed it. Liam did it when he came last time.”
As she spoke, she took out the withered flowers from the vase.
Mason paused for a moment, then chuckled, “He’s still as clueless as ever, isn’t he? Putting it so high, you have to grab a stool every time you water it. What a hassle.”
That was just how Liam was, but Celeste didn’t like hearing negative comments about him from others. So, she didn’t continue the topic.
Possibly sensing his comment was off, Mason quickly changed the subject.
“This bouquet. Have you kept it this long?”
“Yeah, too pretty to let go,” replied Celeste. Then, a thought suddenly crossed her mind, “Did Liam ask for your advice when he bought these flowers?”
The bouquet Mason brought, wasn’t it quite similar to the one Liam had given before?
Mason paused for a moment, looking at the dried flowers. He asked, “Are you saying this bouquet was from Liam?”
Celeste nodded, “Yes, the one he gave before. It’s all withered now. When he first brought it, it was very similar to yours. I thought his taste had improved a lot, turns out he asked you”
