Chapter 839
Riverbend Village was a new development built a couple of years ago in the old town area. It was a middle to low-end residential area, located far from the city center, hence the affordable price.
So, it wasn’t common to see luxury cars here.
After the car stopped, a young and attractive woman got off, waved goodbye, and tossed the bouquet she received from a man into the trash can before heading into the village.
But after only a few steps, two headlights shone from behind. Thinking she was blocking the road, she quickly moved aside.
The car slowly drove up to her and stopped. The window rolled down, and a polite looking man asked, “Are you Lucilla Preston?”
The woman hesitated for a moment, “Yes, who are you?”
The man replied gently. “Our boss wants to talk to you, are you available?”
Lucilla looked wary, “Who’s your boss?”
The man said, “Our boss was the recipient of Mr. Campbell’s email today. You’ve heard of him, right?”
Lucilla blanched, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
With that, she turned to leave
The man slowly followed in his car, “Lucilla, 23 years old. Your sister Elisa Preston was assaulted last summer. During a dispute, she unintentionally hurt the perpetrator It was a minor injury, but he demanded a large sum of money to drop the charges. To prevent your sister from going to jail, you decided to be with Shawn, which is why you dropped out of school, right?”
Lucilla stopped in her tracks, her hands clenched, her face as pale as a sheet.
She turned to look at the man, her voice trembling, “What the hell do you want?”
The man gave a slight smile, “Ms. Preston, get in the car. Maybe our boss can help you out of your predicament, so you can return to campus.”
Lucilla had no other choice once her public facade was exposed.
She opened the car door, looking pale. Sitting inside was a handsome man with a cold expression.
Liam glanced at her, speaking flatly, “Get in.”
Lucilla climbed in nervously, huddling in the comer.
The man turned the car around and drove off.
Liam eyed the woman in front of him, finding her strangely familiar, but she wouldn’t meet his gaze, quickly looking down.
From that glimpse, Liam figured it out.
This girl looked a lot like Caitlyn.
When Celeste got married, she brought an album full of her photos from childhood to adulthood, including a few family portraits
Lucilla looked a lot like the young Caitlyn in the photos.

Lucilla was dressed very simply, her clothes were all pretty cheap. The only expensive thing on her was her bag, but she didn’t seem to care for it. When her seatbelt scraped against the bag, she didn’t react

When the car pulled up near the park, Liam popped the door open and blurted out, “How many photos does Shawn have?”
Clutching her clothes tightly, Lucilla stuttered in a hushed voice, “I don’t know.”

Lucilla’s face turned even paler, “I really, really don’t know.”
Seeing Lucilla’s terrified face, Owen quickly jumped in, “Ms. Preston, don’t freak out!
He then pulled out a bank statement from a bag next to him and handed it to her, “Here’s a token of our sincerity.”
Lucilla took the paper hesitantly, then froze.
