Owen made a ‘please go ahead gesture and said, “Be my guest”
Skyler dialed Liam’s number, and just when the ringing was about to end, Liam finally answered.
Suppressing her anger, Skyler said quietly, “Liam, do you know Owen brought a bunch of people to our house?”
Liam replied indifferently, “Didn’t Owen tell you? I sent them.”
Skyler’s face turned ugly. “What are you trying to do?”
Liam said nonchalantly, “I thought I made myself clear last night. This house is the property of the Reed family. If you live here, people will assume you’re still a part of the Reed family. That might affect your chances of remarrying.”
“You bastard!” Skyler was so angry she felt a pain in her chest. “I raised you; was that a mistake? Now that you’re grown up, you want to kick your mother out. Are you even human?”
“If you say I’m not human, then I guess I’m not.” Liam was tired of hearing the same old lines from her. She always used the favor of giving birth to him as leverage to get money.
He’d softened up time and time again, only to make her more and more greedy.
Now, hearing these words again, his heart was as unyielding as a rock.
Skyler’s motherly love was always about taking, never giving.
With that, Liam hung up the phone, leaving Skyler fuming.
Owen waited for her to hang up, then signaled the others, “Take the lady to rest first; don’t let her overexert herself.”

At that moment, Clyde was visiting his father–in–law with Valeria after his surgery. Seeing Skyler’s call, he frowned.
When Valeria saw that the call was from Skyler and Clyde was about to step out to take it, she followed him out.
Just as he was about to answer the call, Valeria snatched the phone from him and put it on speaker.
Skyler’s helpless voice came from the other end of the line: “Clyde, come quickly. Liam wants to kick me out of the Reed family!”
Clyde tried to grab the phone back, but Valeria blocked him.
She held Clyde’s phone and said, “Sis, Clyde is with me visiting my dad; he really can’t get away right now. Besides, Liam is your son. This is an issue between you two. If you drag Clyde into this, isn’t that just stirring up conflict between him and his nephew?”
“Liam is a sensible and filial boy. He might just be upset for the moment. Once he cools down, he might come pick you up.”
