Then he asked, “Are we still playing?”
Nicolas was about to say “keep playing“, when Trisha’s call came in.
Nicolas immediately forgot his doubts and picked up the call.
As soon as he answered, he regretted it. Just as he was about to hang up, he heard Trisha’s frantic voice.
“Nicolas, I don’t know what to do. I just killed someone…”
Nicolas immediately stood up, “What happened? Slow down and tell me.”
Trisha stuttered out the recent events.
She said someone was bullying Celeste, and she killed the person with a vase. Celeste was trying to take the blame to protect her.
Nicolas was a little confused, but he understood one thing.
Something happened in the room next door.
While comforting Trisha, he called Liam out of the bathroom.
Liam was still dressing and frowned, “What happened?”
“Your wife is in trouble! Someone broke into her house and bullied her!”
Without even grabbing his jacket, Liam followed Nicolas to room 901, wrapped in a towel.
When they arrived, they saw Jade Barlow lying on the floor, broken porcelain pieces scattered around, and Skyler sobbing by his side. Celeste was standing nervously by the dining table, holding a bouquet of flowers.
Seeing Liam, Skyler immediately stood up, with tears streaming down her face, “Liam, Celeste has gone mad. She beat your uncle like this. Call the police and get her arrested!”
Celeste was worried that Skyler would frame Trisha, but she didn’t expect her to be this stupid.
Liam glanced at her and went straight to Celeste.
When he got close, he saw Celeste’s swollen cheek. Liam’s expression instantly hardened, “Did Jade Barlow hit you?”
Celeste nodded, then said, “He didn’t get away with it; I grabbed his balls.”
He suddenly felt that Celeste throwing a cup at him when she was angry was her being merciful.
If she had really used force, he might have to visit a urologist.
Liam took the flowers from Celeste and checked her hand carefully.
The flowers in the vase were not roses; they didn’t prick her hand.
Liam gently brushed away the dust in her palm.
Skyler’s face twisted as she watched Liam’s caring treatment of Celeste.
“Liam, look at your uncle now! This woman did this! And you still care for her?” Liam glanced at him but didn’t reply. Instead, he asked, “Why are you guys here?”
Skyler looked a bit guilty but quickly regained her righteous demeanor, “Why are you asking me? Isn’t this all for Kaylee? Since you won’t let me bail her out, I had to think of other ways. How could I just stand by and watch my daughter suffer in there?!”
Liam’s face turned serious, “Kaylee deliberately splashed water on people, which can be considered intentional harm. Not only did you, as her mother, not correct her behavior, you even helped her. If we let her go easily today, would she not be afraid to do even worse things in the future?”
“You’re talking nonsense!” Skyler said, fuming. “Kaylee is still a kid. How would she know what a serious matter is? If you just let her go; she will realize her mistake. Why would she repeat the same mistake?”
Liam scoffed, “Still a kid? Do you know any kid who is still not grown up at 23? Celeste was only 22 when we got married. According to your logic, wasn’t she also not grown up? When Kaylee maliciously sent her into Wesley’s room as a prank, why didn’t you protect her!”
