Chapter 737
Kaylee was scared and ready to throw a punch, but before she could even raise her arm, she was held back by two others. The woman raised her hand again, slapping Kaylee twice and instantly messing up her carefully combed hair.
She let out a scream, quickly grabbing the attention of the on–duty cop.
But he didn’t open the door; he just looked through the small window and asked, “What are you guys up to?” Someone firmly covered Kaylee’s mouth, and one of them said, “Don’t worry, we’re just playing a game.”
The cop rapped on the door and told them to “keep it down,” then left.
They all ganged up to yank all the jewelry off Kaylee. They couldn’t take them, but it was great to humiliate her a bit. “The first lesson I’m going to teach you today is to learn some manners!”
The woman ripped her dress and messed up her hair, “I may be a whore, but my daughter knows better than you. When someone asks her something, she shows some respect, and doesn’t bark like a dog! If you can’t even match up to a whore’s daughter, what are you?”
She gave Kaylee’s slender thigh a hard twist. Kaylee was in so much pain that her face went pale and her eyes were wide with fear.
But her mouth was covered, so no matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t make a noise.
“What’s so special about being born with a silver spoon? You’re stuck in the same place as us bottom–feeders. How high and mighty are you?”
As the woman continued to taunt and twist, Kaylee was both in pain and terrified, but she couldn’t make a sound.
Once her skin was bruised, the woman signaled the others to let go.
She lightly patted Kaylee’s face with the back of her hand, “When someone speaks nicely to you, respond in kind. No one will put up with your bad attitude.”
After that, she spat and went off to sleep.
Kaylee lay disheveled on the cold floor, her eyes red and her fingers tightly clenched.
Before daybreak, the woman was bailed out and left the police station.
Once she got in a taxi, she made a call, “I did as you instructed, the remaining money…”
No response came from the other end. After a bit, an anonymous transfer of a hundred thousand dollars was deposited inta her account.
The corner of her mouth curled into a slight smile, “Boss, remember to call me if you need something like this again.” Leonard’s injury made the news the next day.
Leonard’s studio claimed that he was accidentally scalded by boiling water and that it was not serious. But it was questionable whether this response was influenced by the Reed farnily.
As for Kaylee, Celeste didn’t see any news about her.
The Reed family was likely not going to let this become news.
Celeste got in touch with Javier, asking for Leonard’s address so she could send some flowers and supplements to cheer him up.
Upon hearing this, Javier said, “Leonard’s fans and media are all keeping a close watch these days. Let’s not visit him now. The team is planning a group visit once he’s feeling better. It’s better not to act alone to avoid unnecessary trouble.” After thinking for a bit, Celeste agreed.
