She is treasured by the Reed family, and it’s okay if she’s a bit proud and willful, but…” Celeste swallowed her discomfort and continued, “I can’t forgive her for sending me to Wesley’s bed on our wedding night.”
Liam’s face turned pale instantly. “What…what did you just say?”
Celeste calmly narrated the events of their wedding night.
Liam’s face turned ashen, and his eyes started to show signs of bloodshotness.
Celeste lowered her head and slowly revealed her wounds.

Liam’s voice was choked with emotion. “Why have you never told me about this before?”
Celeste’s resentment towards Kaylee and her hostility towards Wesley every time she saw him- all of it had a reason.
Celeste’s eyes were slightly moist, but she didn’t cry. “At first, I was scared. I thought it was a disgusting and shameful thing. It happened on our wedding night. We got married in a rush, and you didn’t know me well. They were all your relatives, and I wasn’t sure if you would believe me or them.
If you believed them, our marriage would be over. What would I do? What about my mom? Their threats scared me into silence.
Later, I didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Not just because it had been too long and there was no evidence, but also because our marriage was on the brink of collapse by then. Even if I had told you, you probably wouldn’t have cared.”

She could feel Liam’s whole body shaking uncontrollably. He was holding her so tight, as if trying to meld her into his body. “I’m sorry…”

Besides saying sorry, he didn’t know what else to say.

Her husband here, didn’t give her an ounce of security. She didn’t believe she could rely on him for protection.
He foolishly thought he could build her an unbreakable fortress with money, but beneath that fortress was a bottomless pit.
