Liam pursed his lips and whispered, “Congratulations on winning the lawsuit today.”
The corners of Celeste’s mouth twitched upward, but she didn’t open her eyes. “I won, so Mr. Reed must be very disappointed, huh? Spending so much on lawyer fees and still having to pay compensation.”
Liam frowned, “Why would I be disappointed?”
Celeste barely lifted her eyelids, half–closing her eyes as she looked at him. “you even managed to get Mr. Hector on board, really sparing no expense.”
She had heard that Hector’s attorney fees were very high, and it wasn’t just about having money, but also status and connections.
Sydney might not have been able to get him, but Liam definitely could.
Thinking about the way they were chatting in court earlier, Celeste’s face couldn’t help but darken.
“You think Hector was hired by me?”
Celeste glanced at Liam. “Then why were you there to watch the trial, Mr. Reed? If you try to pretend you have nothing to do with it, at least avoid people when you’re talking to Mr. Hector. So it’ll look more convincing. Just because you lost the case doesn’t mean you can deny the truth.”
Listening to Celeste’s sarcasm, Liam’s mind began to cool down.
He started to review the events of the last two days in his mind.
Celestial Haze was Celeste, so the photo incident definitely wasn’t her doing
Who wanted him to come and watch this trial so badly?
And the purpose was…?
Liam suddenly looked at Celeste, who was looking back at him with a mocking gaze.
He felt like he knew the purpose of the person who invited him to watch the trial.
They wanted Celeste to think that he had helped arrange the trial
Judging by the way Celeste looked at him now, their goal seemed to have been achieved.
He and Celeste were already divorced, with a chasm between them. He was trying to fill that chasm, but someone wanted to make sure he could
never cross it
Who could that be?
As Liam searched for suspicious people in his mind, he realized there were too many people with that motive.
Too many people were hoping for Celeste to divorce him.
Liam explained. “There’s a misunderstanding here. I didn’t know you were involved in this case before I came. I’m just acquainted with Hector, and our conversation in court was just a greeting, not because I’m his employer,”
After listening to his explanation, Celeste finally said, “If you didn’t know, then why did you show up at the trial?”
Liam hesitated for a moment before answering, “Someone sent me a letter telling me to come and watch the trial.”
Celeste couldn’t hold back any longer “Liam, if you can’t come up with an excuse, just stop talking! A simple letter brought you here? What about when I called you so many times during my accident? Why didn’t you answer? Is a letter more important than your wife?”
Liam: “I’m not lying to you.”
Celeste put on her headphones, turned her head to look out the window, and ignored him.
After the other passenger got out of the car, the driver headed straight for the his house.
As soon as they got to the mansion and got out of the car, Mr. Robinson was already waiting for us behind the door.
“Young Master, Mrs. Reed”
Mr. Robinson still used the same old titles. Celeste was anxious to know how Sienna was doing, so she didn’t bother with the title and asked quietly. “Mr. Robinson, how’s Granny?”
Mr. Robinson hesitated for a moment, glanced at Liam, and said with pursed lips, “I’ll take you to see her.”
