As soon as Liam started talking. Celeste knew he was wasted.
That’s the thing with Liam, when he’s drunk, as long as he doesn’t fall asleep, he just sits there quietly and seems like a normal person.
Hiram obviously didn’t realize this and was surprised, “Really? Does she like that?”
Celeste whispered, “Don’t listen to his nonsense.”
Liam frowned, “You were the one who told me.”
She pursed her lips, deciding not to respond.
When Liam’s drunk, everyone shouldn’t engage with him, who knows what he’ll say next? The best approach is to ignore him.
Seeing that she wasn’t responding, Liam stopped talking.
However, he kept putting unpeeled shrimp on her plate, piling up a small mountain in front of Celeste in no time.
That plate of shrimp, which no one else had touched much of, was all piled onto her plate by Liam.
Celeste looked up at the silent Garcia family and felt like Liam had embarrassed her completely.
In the end, Hiram coughed and said, “Liam really cares for his wife.”
Liam whispered, “I always make her mad.”
Hiram laughed, “Ah, it’s normal for young couples to argue and bicker. It’s even said that arguments deepen the relationship. At least you have someone to argue with, look at Steven, the same age as you and still single.”
Liam wholeheartedly agreed, “He doesn’t want to be single, he has his eyes on someone else’s wife.”
Steven almost spat out his drink.
Hiram blinked, “What do you mean by saying ‘has his eyes on?”
“Has his eyes on my wi-” Liam’s words were cut off by Celeste covering his mouth.
“Mr. Garcia, Mrs. Janis, let’s call it a night. Liam’s drunk, I’ll take him home.”
This guy always talks nonsense when he’s drunk! If she hadn’t acted quickly, who knows what outrageous things he might have said.
Hiram, a bit slow to catch on, said, “Alright… Mason can give you them a ride?”
“No need, he’s got his car,” Celeste said as she pulled Liam up. “Lets go home.”
Surprisingly, Liam obediently stood up, held her hand tightly, and even remembered to say goodbye to everyone.
After they left, Hiram sighed, “Time flies, Liam’s been married for so many years.” He then turned to Steven, “When are you bringing a girlfriend home?”
Steven had no response to his question, got up, and said, “I need to use the restroom.”
He also left.
Hiram huffed, “Every time I mention this, he pretends not to hear me!”
Janis said, “You were so lenient when he was young, and now you want to be strict. It’s too late.”
Hiram snorted, “If I had known he’d be so disobedient, I would have had more children.”
Janis paused, “When we were young, I asked you to have more kids, but you didn’t want to.”
Hiram hesitated, “I’ve always been scared of women giving birth.”
Janis said, “Times have changed, medical conditions are better now, and childbirth isn’t as dangerous as you think.”
Hiram didn’t want to continue the topic and turned to Clair, “Clair, spend more time with Celeste, don’t let her think we are neglecting her.”
Clair nodded, “I know, Dad.”
As soon as they left the private room and got on the elevator, Celeste tried to break free from Liam’s grip, but he held on tight, and she couldn’t get
away.
