After Mason got out of the car, he negotiated with a pedlar who had a stall at the hospital gate, asking her to play the sound of a police siren
The pedlar took Mason’s two hundred dollars and agreed without hesitation
“Mason is smart. I didn’t expect those guys to be so cowardly. Hearing the siren, they just ran away. If I knew that, I would have called the police directly.”
As soon as those people left, the medical staff hurriedly reconnected Caitlyn’s ventilator, and Elaine helped clean up the mess on the floor. Finally, everything returned to normal.
Celeste stayed in the ward, watching the doctor’s examination results, while Mason and Nicolas waited in the hallway
“We should have taken a picture of those guys!” Nicolas suddenly slapped his head, ‘In case Liam comes back and your wound hasn’t healed, we won’t be able to find anyone to vent on.”
“Where’s Liam?”
“I don’t know, he said he’s on a business trip. I don’t know where he has gone, and his phone’s off so we couldn’t contact him.”
“Phone’s off?”
Mason lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, “Is he still on the plane?”
“He should have landed by now, right? Maybe the old lady asked him to do something secretly, and didn’t want outsiders to know, so she hid his whereabouts.”
This had happened before, so Nicolas didn’t find it strange.
Mason didn’t say anything else.
Caitlyn’s condition wasn’t very good. The doctor had said before that her physical condition was poor, and some of her organs had begun to fail The ventilator had been disconnected for so long, which actually had some impact on her.
Her lungs had deteriorated, and she couldn’t maintain autonomous breathing for as long as before, so she needed the help of a ventilator. The doctor changed his previous statement that she could survive a year. With her current condition, it might only be a few months.
Celeste pressed her lips together, not speaking for a long time.
“By the way,” the doctor remembered something and said, “Ms. Campbell, your mother’s medical expenses need to be paid.”
Celeste was stunned, “Haven’t the money been transferred yet?”
The doctor said, “I don’t think so. The director reminded me about it this morning. You can go downstairs and check later.” The doctor wasn’t responsible for billing, so he didn’t know much about it.

When she came out of the ward, Nicolas approached her, “How is she? Is she okay?”
Celeste shook her head, looking tired.
“You guys wait for me, I have to go downstairs and take care of something.”
Mason followed her, “I’ll go with you.” He whispered, “There’s something I want to ask you.”
Nicolas was about to follow, but his phone rang, so he went to the side to answer it.
They walked slowly, and the stairwell was dim. Celeste was silent all the way down, until they reached the second floor, when she said, “Mr. Fletcher, I’m really sorry about last night.”
Mason smiled, “You have nothing to apologize for, it’s not like you were the one who did it.”
