Celeste felt a chill in her heart, and just then, her phone rang.
It was a call from Mason.
She took a deep breath, suppressed her emotions, and answered softly, “Hello?”
Mason heard her voice and paused for a moment, “Celeste, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Celeste cleared her throat and let her voice return to normal, “What’s up, Mr. Fletcher?*
“Can you come and pick up Liam? He’s had too much to drink, and I’ve had quite a bit, too, so it’s not really convenient for me to take him.”
Celeste glanced at the time; it had been almost three hours.
“Alright, I’ll be there soon. Please take care of him for now.”
After hanging up, Celeste composed herself, put the things back into the safe and, locked it, then drove off to pick up Liam.
After Caitlyn’s accident, Shawn took complete control of the company. Caitlyn could threaten Shawn with his criminal record back then and made him sign that agreement, but time has passed, and Shawn probably has already covered up those loopholes.
She’s always been reluctant to break with Shawn, because he controlled Caitlyn’s medical expenses.
When Caitlyn had her accident, Celeste was still in school, so Shawn handled all of Caitlyn’s assets.
She had thought of transferring Caitlyn’s shares to her name and taking responsibility for Caitlyn’s medical expenses herself.
But every time she brought it up, Shawn would get very angry, saying she was in a hurry to split the property when he was still alive.
After Caitlyn’s accident, Shawn had absolute control over the Campbell family. As long as he didn’t let go, Celeste couldn’t get a penny of assets from him.
After marrying Liam, Shawn had even more excuses not to give her the rights.
