Chapter 343
Kaylee’s mouth hurt so bad that she couldn’t eat, and she angrily knocked over her bowl and chopsticks.
The nanny carefully cleaned up the mess, but Kaylee grabbed a glass and smashed it near the nanny’s foot.
The splashed glass cut the nanny’s hand, and blood gushed out immediately.
“Get out! Get out of here!”
After shouting, Kaylee covered her cheek in pain.
“Why are you taking your anger out on her?”
Skyler scolded her and turned to the nanny, “Don’t clean up now, go take care of your wound first.”
The nanny left as instructed.
Skyler handed Kaylee another bowl of porridge, “This one is cooler, eat slowly.”
Kaylee had been having difficulty eating due to her mouth injury, and she had lost weight in just a few days, looking pale and weak.
Her already bad temper became even worse due to the constant pain.
“I don’t want to eat, Mom, it hurts so much…”
Kaylee sobbed softly.
Looking at her frail daughter, Skyler clenched her lips and said after a while, “Good girl, we’ll take care of your injury first. Don’t worry, I won’t let this go.”
Trisha was waiting outside when Celeste came out from Mrs. Kelley’s office. She anxiously asked, “How did it go? Did you work things out?”
Celeste shook her head, “The owner of Ruby Lake is Mrs. Kelley.”
Trisha was startled, “The same Mrs. Kelley who lost tens of thousands to you and keeps trying to trip you up?”
Celeste nodded.
“What a small world! Is she holding a grudge and refusing to rent to you on purpose?”
“It’s possible.”
The probability was quite high.
Mrs. Kelley probably knew that the Reed family was planning a birthday celebration, and Skyler had been working hard on it. She must have wanted to reserve the venue for Skyler, but since Skyler didn’t get the hosting rights this year, Mrs. Kelley immediately rented the venue to someone else. What a coincidence!
“Why don’t we…” Trisha suggested, “Ask Liam for help? Mrs. Kelley has to give him some face, right?”
Celeste didn’t say anything.
To be honest, since the incidents with Grandpa David and Kaylee, she hadn’t talked to Liam much.
Now, to ask for his help would be a blow to her pride.
Trisha sighed, she had tried her best, but Liam had messed up and angered Letti.
“Right, Mr. Garcia can help, didn’t he say he owes you a favor? Perfect, let him repay this favor.”
‘I’ll think of another way.”
Celeste didn’t trust Steven. He had helped her clear her suspicions for no apparent reason, and she didn’t feel at ease with him.
Helping someone without reason, if she asked for his help this time, who knows what other motives he might have later, making it even harder to
deal with.
She had to deal with the venue issue herself.
Trisha started the car, “Let’s go, accompany me to the hospital first, and we can think about it on the way.”
Celeste was surprised, “Have you been feeling unwell lately?”
“I’ve been having chest pain lately, and I feel like there’s a lump inside. I want to go to the hospital for a checkup, I’m a little scared to go alone.” Celeste frowned, “Why didn’t you say something earlier? How long have you been in pain?”
“For several months now, sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s been pretty bad these past few days.”
Celeste was a little angry, “How could you not think about getting it checked out after being in pain for months? That’s so irresponsible! If you delay it, you’re the one who suffers!”
