Chapter 30
On the twelfth floor, Liam’s office.
As Owen knocked and entered, Liam was standing by the window looking downstairs.
As he saw Owen, he casually asked, “She left?”
Owen nodded
“What did she say?”
Owen hesitated, unsure how to put it.
Liam glanced at him, “What’s up with you? Why are you so cautious all of a sudden? What did she say?”
Owen swallowed, whispering. “She asked me to apologize for her. She said… she forgot to wash the ingredients while cooking.”
Liam froze instantly.
Actually, they were washed. Celeste purposely said that to have Liam get a taste of something disgusting as revenge for his fickleness. Imagining Liam’s possible expression right now, she felt quite pleased, thinking he must be dying to pour disinfectant down his throat to clean his stomach.
Her mood didn’t last long, though, as she soon encountered something both funny and annoying-her taxi was involved in a collision halfway
Ever since the rear-end accident on the overpass, she had been apprehensive about driving and relied on taxis for transportation. But who would have thought that even taking a taxi could lead to such an incident?
Although the accident wasn’t severe, the other party’s attitude was extremely bad, and they started fighting as soon as they got out of the car. The taxi driver didn’t back down and fought back.
As a witness, Celeste was also taken to the police station for questioning.
Celeste truthfully recounted what she had seen, proving that the car driver started the fight first and that the taxi driver only fought back in self-defense after having been attacked multiple times.
After completing the written record and signing, Celeste left the police station.
Trisha was off today and called to urge her to come back quickly, saying there was important news to tell her.
After hanging up the phone, Celeste tried to get another taxi. During the rush hour, it was impossible to find one.
She was about to see if there were any buses nearby that could take her directly to her place when her hair was suddenly grabbed from behind, and her purse hit her face
A woman’s angry voice came to her ears, “You wicked woman! What nonsense did you say in front of the police!”
Her hair was pulled forcefully, and Celeste felt a sharp pain. She was about to raise her elbow and strike back but saw the woman was pregnant and quickly retracted her force.
She grabbed the woman’s wrist and said in a deep voice, “Let go!”
The woman was not afraid of her threat at all and violently pulled her hair back, “You’re in cahoots with that taxi driver, aren’t you? You deliberately gave false testimony in front of the police, causing my husband to be detained. You’re finished! You wicked woman! How could you be so vicious!”
Celeste found this kind of unreasonable behavior incomprehensible, but she couldn’t push the woman away because she was pregnant. Biting her teeth, she said, “You and your husband were in the car, didn’t you see what he did? If you really cared about him, you should have stopped him at that time. With his road rage, you should be thankful that today it was just a minor scrape. Otherwise, it could have endangered your lives!”
“Shut up!”
