Chapter 295
As other business men came to chat with Liam, Celeste went to find Grandpa David by the pool.
This old man had just won some money at the casino and was now competing in a breath–holding contest with a group of young people!
When Celeste arrived, David had just won a round and was flicking the young guys‘ foreheads.
Celeste was surprised and asked Owen, “How long did he hold his breath?”
Owen answered, “About thirty seconds.”
Celeste skeptically asked, “He won with just thirty seconds? These guys are really weak, huh?”
Owen coughed and said, “Before the contest, the old man introduced himself as Mr. Reed’s Grandpa David.”
Celeste finally understood.
It was because of Liam’s reputation that they let him win.
She couldn’t help but laugh, seeing that he didn’t seem to mind winning in such a way and was actually quite happy.
This old man was becoming more like a child as he aged.
David had been playing all over the cruise ship and finally got tired after teasing the young people for a while.
Celeste said she’d take him back to his room to rest, but he didn’t want to go, “There’s still a buffet dinner tonight.”
At this point, he was still thinking about eating.
Celeste said, “I’ll ask someone to save some food for you.”
David asked, “Will they listen to you?”
Celeste replied, “They’ll listen to Liam.”
It seemed that David finally saw some merit in Liam and reluctantly agreed.
Celeste realized that her shamelessness might be inherited from Grandpa David.
David was really tired, having been too excited to sleep the night before.
As Celeste tucked him in, he was asking about the food one second, and snoring the next.
When she came out of the cabin, fireworks had started outside.
It had been years since she’d seen fireworks up close in the city, so she couldn’t help but stay and watch.
She even took a short video on her phone and sent it to Trisha with the caption, “Life of a rich wife.”
Trisha responded with a middle finger emoji, “You’re so shameless!”
Celeste happily replied, “When I’m done filming, I’ll take you here.”
As she was waiting for Trisha’s reply, she heard Sydney’s voice behind her, “Celeste, you must feel pretty smug, huh?”
Celeste looked back at her and said, “You’re too full of yourself. Did you think you played better than me? Don’t try to provoke me, Ms. Denton.” Sydney’s face turned serious, “You’re really shameless. You probably think Liam didn’t divorce you because he likes you.”
Celeste seemed to have heard something amusing and laughed, saying, “What? You’ve been pregnant for so long, and Liam hasn’t proposed to you, is that why you’re coming to me all desperate and bothered?”
“If you want us to get a divorce, I’ll be even less likely to do it. You can have this baby. As for whether or not I’ll raise the kid you give birth to, well, that depends on my mood.”
Sydney was so furious she couldn’t speak: “Are you out of your mind?”
Celeste didn’t have the patience to deal with her and turned to leave.
Sydney felt her plan was falling apart, so she grabbed Celeste’s wrist tightly: “Celeste, don’t act like you don’t care. Let’s make a bet to see who Liam would save first if both of us fell into the water.”
With that, she pulled Celeste’s arm and jumped into the water.
