It was clear that Liam didn’t want to let grandma know that he got injured, probably because he didn’t want to make her worry.
“Have you not been eating well?” The old lady frowned and said, “You looks skinnier than usual. Are you feeling better these days?”
“Much better. I’ll be back in the office in a couple of days.”
“Don’t rush it. Taking care of your health is your top priority, the old lady looked at the coffee cup in his hand and frowned, “You’re drinking coffee when your stomach isn’t feeling well?”
Liam immediately shifted the blame onto Celeste, “It’s hers.”
“Celeste shouldn’t drink it either. It’s already the afternoon, and it will affect her sleep at night.”
Celeste played along. “I got it, Grandma. It won’t happen again.”
The old lady seemed quite satisfied and then noticed a pile of clothes on the sofa. She asked, “Are you going out?”
Now Celeste was at a loss for words.
The old lady already knew that Liam was “sick.” If she found out that Celeste was going to an event and leaving her “sick” grandson home alone, she would be unhappy even if she didn’t say anything.
As she was thinking of an excuse to get herself off the hook, Liam said, “She has been making a lot of noise at home, so I’m sending her to the jewelry show tonight to let my ears have some peace.”
The old lady wondered, “The jewelry show organized by Krista?”
Krista Fletcher, the organizer of the event, and also Mason’s aunt.
Liam nodded.
The old lady laughed and said, “Then I’ll just go with Celeste later.”
Liam was taken aback, “You’re going?”
“Krista told me there was a precious gemstone filled with good fortune at the show. Since I have nothing else to do, I’ll go and take a look.”
The old lady was superstitious and very fond of gems. She is close friends with a fortune teller and even donates money for the renovation of his studio.
Even when Celeste and Liam got married, the old lady had their astrological charts read, claiming that they were a match made in heaven.
Celeste always thought this fortune teller was a bit of a con artist. However, there’s no need to bring it up and make the old lady unhappy.
Liam frowned, “I haven’t heard of that gem. Isn’t it a luminous pearl?”
“It’s from a friend of hers. I’m not sure either. We’ll know when we go see it.”
Liam said impassively. Tll go with you two.”
The old lady glanced at him, “If you think Celeste alone is too noisy, how can you handle such a crowded place? You would get even more irritated, wouldn’t you?”
Liam said with a straight face, “I’ll try to get used to it. I can’t just keep sending Celeste away, can I?”
Celeste’s mouth twitched slightly.
Damn him, his excuses were always on point!
Mason’s grandpa had four children, with the first three being sons and the youngest one a daughter.
Being the only daughter, the Fletcher family spoiled Krista a lot.
Krista herself was quite accomplished, being a prestigious school graduate, having a successful career, and coming from a wealthy family. The only flaw would be her marriage

They hadn’t held a wedding yet, probably because her family still disagreed.
Celeste envied her. A fifty-year-old woman could find herself a thirty year-old boyfriend as long as she was rich.
