Chapter 169
As the door opened, there lay a stiff body on the bed, a white sheet covering its head.
The room was full of the smell of disinfectant, making people feel suffocated.
Skyler’s face turned pale, and Kaylee shook her head in disbelief, “No way, my brother couldn’t have an accident…”
Standing still, Celeste unconsciously stepped back. Shawn suddenly pushed her from behind, causing her to fall forward to her knees, her wrist hitting the bed railing. The intense pain made her cry out, and tears instantly filled her eyes.
Shawn looked sad, “How could such a healthy person just die like that?”
Celeste’s knees hurt, her wrist hurt, and the thought of the body under the white sheet made her burst into tears.
At that moment, a familiar voice sounded at the door, “What are you guys doing?”
Celeste’s body tensed, and she slowly turned her head.
Liam, his arm in a sling and wearing a patient gown, stood expressionlessly at the door, with a shocked Nicolas beside him. Celeste….
“Bro” Kaylee pounced, “You scared me to death!”
It turned out that Liam had originally been in room 709, but he didn’t like the location, so he had switched to room 704 in the morning. However, the hospital system hadn’t updated in time, leading them to mistakenly believe he was still in 709 and causing the misunderstanding.
“What happened to your arm?” Skyler started to recover.
Before Liam could answer, Nicolas explained, “Last night, he helped the police catch the bad guys and accidentally got cut. The wound was deep, so they had to stitch it up with seven stitches!”
Seven stitches….
Celeste felt guilty
“Why wouldn’t you call when there was such a big problem? If Kaylee hadn’t seen the picture Nicolas posted in the group, we wouldn’t have known until
now!”
Celeste’s fingers involuntarily tightened.
Liam said indifferently. “It’s just a minor injury. I didn’t even plan on letting you guys know in the first place.”
Nicolas had taken a picture of Liam lying in the hospital bed when he was asleep and sent it to their group of friends. But it got sent to a larger group by accident, and someone screenshot it and sent it to another group where Kaylee saw it.
Skyler wasn’t happy, “Seven stitches, and you call this a minor injury?”
Afraid they’d start arguing, Nicolas quickly stepped in, “Why don’t we go back to the room first and talk there? Also, there’s a dead body here; we should show some respect for the deceased”
It really wasn’t the place for chitchat.
Liam glanced at Celeste, who was still kneeling, and said, “How long are you planning to kneel?”
She didn’t want to kneell Her knees hurt!
Kaylee said impatiently, “Ugh, so embarrassing! You didn’t even recognize him and thought he was dead, and even knelt down. How much do you want my brother to be in trouble?”
Shawn explained for her, “It’s just that Celeste was too worried. She thought something happened to Liam and was all freaked out.”
As Kaylee was about to say something else, Skyler interrupted her, “Let’s head back to the room first and talk about it later.” With that, she stopped nagging.
Just as Kaylee was about to support Liam, he avoided her hand and walked up to Celeste, extending his uninjured hand. Celeste followed his fingers with her eyes, looking up
Aside from his injured hand, Liam was in good shape and didn’t look as close to death as Nicolas had described.
But as soon as she thought about how his arm needed seven stitches because of her, guilt began to bubble up inside her again.
From Liam’s perspective, Celeste’s eyes were red, tears still hanging in the corners, her nose was also red, making her look absolutely pitiful and stirring feelings inside him.

She thought angrily, Liam must have been beaten up because he was so good at making sarcastic remarks, and it had nothing to do with her!
