With a ponytail, a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of sneakers on her feet, she stood out next to the two gentlemen in suits.
Before they went in, Nicolas told them, “We’ll enter separately. Once I’m in, keep an eye on me from a nearby spot. If I give an ok sign when a girl chats me up, leave it be. If I don’t like her, then I’ll need Celeste to come and save me.”
Celeste gave an ok sign, “No problem.”
As Nicolas entered the venue, she and Liam were left in the car,
Celeste turned on the music, lowered her head, and played with her phone, ignoring the person next to her.
“My grandma just texted me that you sent her a box of oysters.” His tone was a little heavy and even sounded a bit resentful.
Celeste didn’t notice his feelings and casually said, “My dad gave me two boxes.”
One went to Sienna, the other to Nicolas-none for Liam.
Liam was a bit upset.
It was just a box of oysters, but he couldn’t help feeling jealous.
In the past, whenever she had something good, she’d give it to him first. But now, even Nicolas got to enjoy her gifts!
“Stop worrying about useless stuff. Nicolas doesn’t even like that kind of thing.” He said it quietly, but it felt a bit awkward, like he was accusing her. What
he meant to say was that Nicolas couldn’t tell the difference between good and bad stuff, and giving it to him would be a waste.
But before he finished. Celeste laughed, “Thanks for the reminder, Mr. Reed, but I’m not that clueless. I only gave him those to thank him for his help. Whether he likes them or not is up to him, and he can throw them away if he wants.”
Celeste remembered a similar incident in the past.
In the first year of her marriage to Liam, Liam had some friends over for his birthday. She was meeting his friends for the first time and was very nervous and eager to impress. She helped the housekeeper prepare a feast for everyone.
Though Celeste’s cooking was average, her desserts were delicious, and everyone praised them.
Afterward, she made countless more desserts, divided them into portions, and packed them. She sent one to each person who attended the party.
Liam was furious when he found out.
He probably thought her actions were too ingratiating, or maybe he just hated her getting close to his circle without telling Him.
At any rate, after that incident, Liam barely invited her to gatherings like that. He might have thought that she wasn’t elegant enough and didn’t belong in such company
Little did Liam know that her gifts were just a way for her to learn about his likes and dislikes through his friends, so that she could mold herself into his ideal partner
It turned out that if someone didn’t like you, they wouldn’t notice even if you were perfect. They would always find something bad with you.
Liam was kinda pissed, she’d rather give the stuff to Nicolas than keep it for him.
