Steven’s voice was gentle, “Celeste, are you free tomorrow? It’s Clair’s birthday. She’s having a party at a vacation villa in the suburbs, and she wants you to come. Would you like to?”

Celeste took a look at him and picked up the cup. “Are you close with Clair?”
Liam said, “I’ll attend as your family member.”
Celeste almost spit out the water she had just drunk. She looked at the man in front of her, wiped the water droplet from her lip with her thumb, squinted her eyes, and asked, “Didn’t Ms. Garcia invite you?”
Liam frowned, “Why would she specifically invite me?”
Celeste glanced at him, “You tricked me into thinking you were working overtime, but you were actually on a blind date. Have you forgotten about it already?”

“And how’d you know that? Did she tell you?”
Liam shook his head, “Nope. Clair is a rich heiress, right? Even if she was in a hurry to get hitched, she wouldn’t be going for a guy who’s just been divorced, would she?”
Celeste was left speechless, struggling to find words for a comeback.
She wasn’t sure if she should comment on Liam’s obliviousness or reflect on whether she was being too sensitive.
She didn’t know if Clair was intentionally getting close to Liam, but she could sense that Clair was into him.
She asked cautiously. “Did you two chat that day?”

Liam whispered, “She wanted to talk about tea and asked me what kind I liked”
Celeste was taken aback.
Liam continued, “And I told her my favorite type.”
Celeste was shocked again.

But then Liam added, “I told her that the eggs you cook with tea leaves taste amazing.”
