Chapter 1216
As Liam stepped out of the office, he hit the answer button and asked Celeste in a deliberately aloof tone, “Have you had dinner yet? Do you still remember that you have a boyfriend?”
Celeste thought to herself, realizing that Liam really was the jealous type.
“How did you know we were going to have dinner?” Celeste asked.
Liam stopped in his tracks and smirked. “Don’t I know you? You always take your lawyer out for dinner after finishing paperwork, right?”
“We didn’t end up eating Celeste muttered. “Mr. Fletcher had an accident.”
Liam paused, his eyebrows furrowing. “What happened to Mason?”
“Someone cut his hand; he’s getting stitches at the hospital now. You’re close with his family, right? You should contact them.”
Liam frowned, “Weren’t you guys going to handle the land ownership certificate? How did he get hurt?”
Celeste briefly explained what happened in the afternoon to Liam
The more Liam heard, the more serious he became. When he heard that Celeste knocked the guy out with a jar, his eyelids twitched violently.
Just as Liam was about to scold her, Celeste said, “Mr. Fletcher even thanked me, but I didn’t plan to go in the first place.”
Liam paused, “Why didn’t you plan to go? Wasn’t that the perfect moment for you to show your kindness and bravery?”
Celeste thought about how Liam really was something else.
Celeste snorted, “The bad guy had a knife, I’m not stupid. Even if I went, what could I do?”
Liam paused, then the corner of his mouth twitched upward. He asked quietly. “What if it was me? Would you rush over without hesitation?”
Celeste responded seriously, “If it were you, I would run even further. You have many enemies, and there is bound to be someone who wants to take revenge Since I can’t save you, I might as well stay away”
Liam grifted his teeth, “You’re really a cunning one”
Celeste chuckled softly, “Quit the chatter and contact Mr. Fletcher’s family
Liam agreed and then asked, “Are you at the hospital now?”
“No” Celeste whispered, “I didn’t go to the hospital. I just finished giving my statement, and I’m on my way home now.”
Liam was a bit surprised
Although he didn’t want Letti and Mason to get too close, he knew Celeste was a very polite person. If something happened to him, she would probably stay with him at the hospital.
Liam said quietly, I thought you would stay at the hospital”
Celeste responded, “There were too many people at the hospital. I was afraid someone would recognize me and write some nonsense about it, and then you would get mad
Liam felt a lot better after hearing this. It seemed that his fussing was effective. He would have to keep it up.
“Also Celeste paused, whispering, “I always feel like there’s something off about Mr. Fletcher.”
Liam asked, “You’re into that now too?”
“Don’t change the subject!” Celeste glared at her phone, I’m talking about serious matters!”
Liam didn’t quite understand how this ‘off feeling was a serious matter, but he listened attentively. “Go on.”
