The response on the other end of the phone left Helen feeling antsy. She asked, “They didn’t suspect anything, did they?”
The other person replied, “No.”
Helen rubbed her forehead, whispering. “You’ve worked hard. I can only relax once this matter is dealt with.”
Just then, the door to the dressing room was thrown open
Helen jumped, quickly hanging up the phone.
Turning her head, she saw Angel and let out a sigh of relief. Then she reprimanded, “Can’t you knock? You’re a Campbell now, and you need to act like it. Don’t give people a reason to think you’re uncouth and laugh at you.”
Angel, pulling a face, angrily said, “That bitch Celeste is here!”
Helen, taken aback, frowned. What is she doing here?”
Angel replied. “My dad brought her. You should see the way he treats her like she’s his own daughter Why would he invite her on such an important day? Just our
luck!”
Helen became alert.
She asked, “Whom did Celeste come with?”
Angel thought for a moment, then replied, “I think she came alone. She was alone when I saw her But she still acts high and mighty even though she’s not a rich girl anymore She was even wearing a high–end custom dress.”
Helen, speechless, frowned and asked, “Did Liam come with her?”
Angel made a face and said, ‘Liam is here, but he didn’t come with her”
Helen asked puzzled, “Are you sure?”
“Of course, Mom. You should have seen Celeste’s attitude. She barely gives Liam the time of day. But Liam, it’s like he’s under her spell, always watching her
