“My teacher told me when designing this dress, she was inspired by a female passenger she met on a plane. That woman was wearing a long dress to attend a traditional costume show. She happened to sit next to my teacher. When my teacher saw her, she was amazed. After returning, she was inspired and drew the design. Everyone was shocked again.
The story behind “Swan Ascending” was no secret to those who had visited the Embroidery Exhibition.
Sandra told the story at the exhibition. She saw a girl on the plane. A passenger suddenly had a heart attack and collapsed. The girl in the long dress, who was closest, quickly protected the passenger’s head with her arm, preventing him from hitting the food cart.
Then, several young people quickly helped with the first aid, successfully reviving the passenger.
Sandra said that the news often reports negatively about young people. But that day, all the people who helped were young. She felt that the older generation shouldn’t always judge young people with their old perspectives. Each generation had its own way of life.
They shouldn’t describe young people as “worse than the previous generation” because their ideas differ. They have the power to rise like ascending swans.
