Chapter 1138
“All right, I’ll listen to you. I’ll go talk to Dad and our grandparents,” Steven paused, then said softly, “Even if we don’t recognize each other for now, we can still meet and chat. Everyone misses you.”
“I’ll do my best.”
Steven didn’t want to push her further, so he just asked what he was most concerned about, “What’s going on with you and that guy? Are you two back together?”
They were all the same age, and from how Steven referred to Liam as “that guy“, it was clear that he was not pleased with him.
She thought Steven’s hostility towards Liam was because Liam kept trying to set him up on blind dates. But now it seemed that most of it was due to Liam’s divorce from her.
After beating around the bush for a while, Celeste finally said, “We’re… Just seeing how things go for now.”

After holding back for a while, Steven finally managed to control his emotions and said, “Celeste, you’re in the rising phase of your career right now. You should focus on your work. There’s no need to rush things with your love life.”
Celeste said, “I’m not rushing. We’re just trying things out.”
“You’re not rushing, but someone is. How old is Liam? It won’t be easy for him to deceive another young and pretty woman like you! He’s definitely trying to secure you first since you’ve been fooled once.”
Celeste retorted, “This is not like before when you were in the Campbell family and had to marry him due to circumstances. Now you’re a free and single woman. Our family doesn’t pressure anyone to get married or have kids. You have plenty of chances to make mistakes. After you’ve tried a bit more, you’ll realize Liam is not that special. He’s average–looking, his income is just barely passable, and he’s tall, but that doesn’t help ir moments. He also has a troublesome sister and a problematic mom at home. Whoever marries him would have to take care of a mess of a household.”
Now she knew whom she got her mouth from. When Steven started roasting people, Liam and she together couldn’t match him.
Moreover, her brother didn’t know the whole truth. She wasn’t forced to marry Liam initially. She was… attracted by his looks…
Seeing her boyfriend being trashed by her own brother, Celeste couldn’t help but clear her throat and stand up for him, “Skyler Reed has moved out of the Reed family’s house now. And Liam and I are just dating at this stage, bro, don’t worry about the future so much.”
Before Steven could add anything, Celeste beat him to it, “As you said, it’s Liam who’s getting old. He should be the one worried, not me. Even if break up with him after a few years, I’m still in my prime, and he’s the one aging like milk; wouldn’t he be the one at a loss?”
Steven’s own words of criticism towards Liam came back to bite him in the ass.
Sensing that Steven might have more to say, she quickly added, “I’ve got a call coming in, got to go,” and hung up.
Shawn and Helen’s wedding was held at Ruby Lake.
She was a bit taken aback when Celeste found out they chose this venue.
Mrs. Kelley’s venue wasn’t cheap, and with the wedding set on such short notice, it seemed impossible that a spot was available.
Curious, she gave Mrs. Kelley a ring.
“Helen came to me to book the venue,” Mrs. Kelley explained honestly. “It’s wedding season, and all the auspicious dates this month were fully booked by the time she came to me. But she was insistent, so I helped her contact another client. Helen ended up paying over triple the price to rent it from her. Her generosity was something new to me. Throwing such a lavish wedding as a second–time bride, this is a first for me.”
