Chapter 1118
It was already eleven o’clock at night.
Unlike the city, most of the shops on the street were closed at this hour, except for a few vending machine convenience stores or adult stores. There were hardly any people on the street.
Nicolas saw Trisha covered in sweat and felt pity for her, so he offered to help her carry her stuff.
Trisha waved him off “No need; we’re almost home”
“You’ve been carrying these all the way, take a break We’re almost there, there’s no rush”
After saying this, he took out a tissue and wiped the sweat off Trisha’s forehead
Trisha took the tissue and handed him the luggage. “My mom said she’d pick us up, but she must have gone dancing again! did I believe her?”
Nicolas laughed, saying, “We’re two people, she can’t carry us both on her electric bike, can she?”
Trisha didn’t speak
She wondered if her mom would get mad if she heard someone say she rode an electric bike. When she was young, she used to drive a three–wheeled truck to deliver goods, and she was ridiculed by her competitors. Later, after her mom’s business took off, she switched to a Maserati, and she drove it around their doors every day, getting chased and cursed out quite a bit.
Although Trisha said her home was close, they still walked quite a bit.
Nicolas had already imagined a dilapidated mud–brick house, a yard overrun with weeds, and a leaking roof, but Trisha led him to a self–built house that looked like a sky garden.
The surroundings should have been planned by the city, and from the outside, all the houses looked like they were made of white walls and gray bricks, but the inside was quite different.
The other houses were just ordinary two- or three–story houses, but this one was lit up with light strips, with full–length European windows on all three floors, a sunshade built on the second floor balcony, and pink roses from the first floor climbing up to the third floor, looking like a waterfall, very dreamy.
Just as Trisha was about to push the door open, Nicolas pulled her back and said, “We didn’t take a wrong turn, did we?”
Trisha checked the house number. “No.”
Nicolas still couldn’t believe it. “Didn’t you say your family’s financial condition

Did this house count as not very good?
Trisha casually answered, “Our town is designated as a model village and town by the city, and this house was built as required by the city’s planning. The policy is quite good now, so we didn’t spend much money.”
Nicolas still didn’t quite believe it. “What is your town a model of?”

Ever since Nicolas was whisked back to the city, he rarely got involved in village affairs, aside from attending his grandpa’s funeral
The chums he used to run around with when he was a kid now hardly keep in touch Only occasionally would he see some cid home photos they shared on their social media, the changes were so dramatic it was hard to recognize
So, what Trisha was saying made sense, and he could only put his doubts aside for now.
Trisha pushed open the door, leading Nicolas inside the house
The yard was filled with all sorts of flowers and plants, obviously well taken care of Nicolas was walking while fixing his hair when suddenly something lunged at him from his side.
