Celeste looked puzzled. “I’m not one to sit around and wait for the worst. If he tried to attack me, I’d definitely run.” She continued. “You’re worrying over nothing. He hasn’t had an episode in years, which means he’s in a good place now. If we treat him like an outcast, it might backfire. Even if he does have an episode, all we have to do is go along with it and find a doctor.”
Liam was silent. He realized he was no match for her in a war of words. No matter what he said, she always had a
counter–argument
His words didn’t scare her; they only stirred up her sympathy
He glanced at Celeste. “Go along with it? If he asked you to be his girlfriend during an episode, would you go along with that too?”
Celeste immediately replied, “That won’t happen.”
Liam started to feel a little better, only to hear her say, “Not while you’re still around”
Liam’s expression changed. “Are you saying that as long as I’m alive, I’m in the way of you choosing someone else?
Celeste laughed. “What I meant was, how could I possibly choose anyone else with you around? Sure, he’s not bad looking, but you’re the one I love the most.”
Liam was left speechless by her sweet talk
Celeste continued. “If you’re worried Mason might become violent when he has an episode, I think you should be more worried about yourself. I’ve only known him for a few months, and we hardly stay in touch. But you’re his good friend and your families are close. If he has an episode, there’s a bigger chance he might hurt you than me.”
Liam confidently said, “He can’t beat me.”
That’s not a given. He seems to be just as muscular as you, plus he’s a non–professional boxing champion. You mostly run and work out, you might not be a match for him.”
Liam was taken aback. “How do you know he’s just as muscular as me?”
“I guessed,” she quickly changed the subject, “I bought two mugs today”
She took out a box, opened it, and showed him a pair of couple mugs “Aren’t they cute?”
Liam looked, and seeing a couple of mugs, he felt much better.
He closed the box and gently touched her hair. “Does it still hurt?”
Celeste immediately replied, “It hurts like hell.”
“Will it feel better if I blow on it?”
“Do you think you’re dealing with a kid?” Even though Celeste said this, she still leaned in, “Go ahead.”
Liam laughed. “I thought you said I was treating you like a kid.”
Celeste closed her eyes, “This trick might be too simplistic for a kid, but it works perfectly on me.”
Liam had gotten used to her unique logic. He carefully blew on her wound.
“What do you feel like eating later?” While blowing on her wound, Liam asked.
Celeste replied, “We bought fish today. Let’s cook dinner at home.”
“You’re hurt How can you still cook?”
With a confident smirk, Celeste said, “You cook, I’ll coach.”
Liam was speechless
“Let’s just buy takeout”
Celeste opened her eyes wide, “What, is it so hard to cook a meal for me?”
Liam retorted, “It’s not that I lack confidence in my cooking skills. It’s your coaching abilities I’m skeptical about.”
