Chapter 1098
Celeste Campbell frowned, shooting an unhappy glare at the other party and silently lowering her hat a bit more.
She remembered the girl who had secretly taken her picture was standing next to her in the elevator moments ago.
She guessed that when a kid pulled down her mask, the girl saw her face and recognized her.
No matter the reason, she needed to get out of there as fast as possible.
She turned her head towards Mason Fletcher, but Mason was nowhere to be seen.
She took out her phone and texted Mason, 1 think I’ve been spotted, let’s get the cups another day. I’m heading out now, don’t
wait for me.”
After sending the text, Celeste returned her cup to the sales assistant, apologizing. “I’m sorry, I don’t want it anymore.”
With that, she headed for the exit. The girl who had secretly taken her picture saw her leaving, hurried after her, and grabbed Celeste by the arm, asking. “Are you Celeste? Is it you?”
Celeste shook off her hand, and with an icy voice, she answered, “You’ve got the wrong person.”
“I’m sure it’s you!” the girl exclaimed excitedly, then tried to remove Celeste’s mask and take a picture of her face with her phone, even bumping the phone against Celeste’s chin.
Celeste felt a sharp pain, instinctively pushed away the girl’s hand, and accidentally knocked the phone out of her hand.
The sudden commotion attracted everyone’s attention.
The girl quickly bent down to pick up her phone, and just as Celeste was about to speak, another girl rushed over and pushed her, “What are you doing? Trying to start a fight?”
Celeste staggered back a step or two. Once she regained her balance and saw that the other girl’s phone was not damaged, she chose to remain silent and turned to leave.
The girl who had come later immediately blocked her way, saying, “You knock down someone’s phone and just walk away? What kind of person are you?”
Celeste bit her lip, her voice low, “She was the one who bumped her phone against my chin. First, I just pushed her hand away, and her phone is not damaged.”
“So the phone isn’t damaged. Does that mean you don’t have to apologize?” the girl barked, “We were just taking pictures of the store. We weren’t even taking pictures of you, who do you think you are to knock on her phone?”
The girl had her phone in Celeste’s face asking her name, still claiming she was taking pictures of the store.
If the timing hadn’t been so off, Celeste would have argued with them.
She took a deep breath, suppressing the anger in her heart, and said in a low voice, “I apologize. I misunderstood.”
But the girl would not let it go, “You’re apologizing with your mask on. What kind of apology is that? Take off your mask!”
Celeste looked at the girl, deciding not to appease them anymore, “I can apologize with my mask off, but she has to delete all the pictures of me from her phone.”
The girl was taken aback, not expecting her to respond like this, and immediately flared up, “I’ve told you I didn’t take your picture!”
“You can’t take pictures of the store either, right?” Celeste pointed to the store’s no photography sign.
Celeste calmly said, “If she deletes all the pictures of the store, I will apologize.”
She called the store clerk, pointing at the two girls, and told the clerk, “Hi, these two ladies seem to be taking pictures inside the store. Could you check it out? We came here to shop and don’t want our image to appear in someone else’s camera.”
The store clerk immediately apologized and asked the two women to show the most recent photo in their phone album for confirmation.
Hearing the request to check their phones, the girl who had dropped her phone seemed flustered, while the other girl seemed very confident while stating. “You are not law enforcement. You have no right to search our phones.”
Celeste chuckled and waved her phone, saying, “You guys sure know your law.” The screen displayed the dialing option for the police
