Mason hesitated for a moment, then said calmly, “Didn’t you arrange a gathering? You even asked Liam to contact me.”
He organized a gathering, how could he not know about it? What the hell was Liam doing?
Nicolas was good at lying, so he immediately said, “Ah, yes. There is such a thing. Are you coming?”
“I’m not sure yet. I have two cases this week. If I can finish them, I’ll go.” Mason paused, then asked, “Are we all bringing dates? Or is it just us guys?”
Nicolas laughed, “It’s best for men to drink together, and bringing a date is troublesome”
Especially Celeste. If he drank with Liam, he could comfort him even if Liam drank too much. But if Celeste was there, he would be killed by her gaze if he poured an extra glass for Liam.
Mason was silent for a moment before saying. “Ok, got it”
After hanging up the phone, Trisha said, “If you think bringing a date is troublesome, why do you have a girlfriend?”
Nicolas chuckled, “If you want to go, I’ll take you. I’ll never find you troublesome.”
Trisha snorted, “I’m taking care of you all day, and you still want me to take care of a drunk person.”
“That’s an exaggeration Nicolas said
Trisha pointed to her own dark circles, “Look at me!”
Nicolas wanted to laugh, but when he saw Trisha’s dark circles, he couldn’t. Lately, he had been a bit too much. Using his injury as an excuse, he often called Trisha. Out of guilt, Trisha would always meet his demands.
He didn’t really want her to work, and he just wanted to spend more time with her. But if he didn’t use sickness as an excuse, Trisha wouldn’t
come
He grabbed Trisha’s hand and said softly. “Thank you.”
He suddenly spoke so seriously that Trisha was a bit uncomfortable, “It’s not a big deal, as long as you get better soon. How’s the doctor’s visit lately? What did the doctor say?”
Nicolas couldn’t possibly let himself “recover” so quickly. He said, “The doctor said the wound is healing well. I can sleep lying down in a couple of days The wound doesn’t hurt so much anymore, as long as I don’t do vigorous activities.”
Trisha’s eyes lit up. “So you’re all better now?”
Nicolas looked a bit downcast, “The wound is healed, but I still can’t do that.”
“The wound is healed, how could there be a problem?” Trisha sounded a bit anxious, “What did the doctor say? Is it not fully recovered, or is it a psychological problem?”
“The doc ain’t sure either. He just said I need some peace and quiet.” He coughed, then added, “He suggests to spend more time with my girlfriend, try to stir up some emotions or something.”
Trisha frowned, with a puzzled look on her face. It took her a good while before she asked, “So, are you gonna get a girlfriend to test it out?”
Nicolas felt really annoyed. She still wanted him to go find a girlfriend! “You’re my girlfriend right now, are you telling me to go look for someone else?”
“Aren’t I just pretending?” Trisha said quietly
Nicolas glared at her. “To everyone else, you’re the real deal. If I go chasing other women, wouldn’t that be cheating? if Celeste finds out I’ve betrayed you, she’ll have my head!”
