Chapter 251
When Jane arrived at the hospital, Drake had just been wheeled out of the operating room, and Dr. Harrington had a gloomy expression on his face.
“How is he?” Jane approached and inquired about Drake’s condition.
Dr. Harrington adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose and looked somber. “He was already seriously injured and didn’t rest properly, wandering around despite that. Now he got hit on the head and sustained further injuries. If he continues to ignore advice, no one can save him.”
After hearing that Drake was injured again, Jane glanced at Daniel with confusion.
Daniel looked guilty and could only lower his head as he spoke in a disheartened tone, “He got hit on the head by something falling from above at the construction site.”
Hearing this, Jane’s expression changed, feeling a pang of sympathy for Drake.
“What about the situation at the construction site?”
Daniel sighed, full of helplessness. “The project is at a standstill, and on top of that, the site has been sealed off. A large number of media reporters are surrounding the company and the construction site, waiting for the Warner Corporation to give them an explanation.”
“And what about the victim’s family?” Jane knew that someone had died, but the details were still
unclear.
“The victim’s family is now causing a scene in front of the Warner Corporation, demanding an explanation. Their aggressive actions attracted so many media reporters,” Daniel said with a headache.
“Why are they causing a scene? There must be a reason, right?” Jane thought that although it was unfortunate that someone died, the construction industry was inherently dangerous, and accidents could happen. As long as they followed the proper procedures and provided sufficient compensation, it shouldn’t be a major problem.
Drake should also understand that the bigger picture was important, and he wouldn’t withhold the compensation and damages owed to the victim’s family.
“They are dissatisfied with the amount of compensation,” Daniel confirmed Jane’s speculation.
“How much do they want?” Jane furrowed her brows, already imagining a substantial figure. If the compensation offered for such an accident wasn’t satisfactory, it meant the other party was demanding a significant sum.
When Daniel revealed the amount they wanted, Jane was greatly shocked.
“They want this amount,” Daniel holding up three fingers.
Jane was surprised, “They want three million?”
“No! It’s thirty million!” Daniel shook his head with a bitter expression.
After hearing this number, Jane was utterly shocked. It was already a considerable sum. When the Bentley family invested, they contributed only five million, which was the maximum liquid capital, Andrew Bentley, Jane’s father, could provide.
On the other hand, an ordinary family was demanding thirty million in cash. This was far too much.

“The company’s legal team is already negotiating this matter, but the other party is being very tough and insists that if they can’t get that much money, they won’t give up,” Daniel said with a furrowed
brow.
To make matters worse, Drake fainted again due to his injuries, and the company didn’t even have someone to lead the situation.
Daniel was already considering whether to bring out the Old Madam to help stabilize the situation.
“I’ll handle this matter, you take care of him at the hospital,” Jane said decisively.
Jane clenched his teeth and decided to step forward to resolve the situation.
“You!” Daniel was somewhat surprised but then thought of Jane’s identity and capabilities, so he didn’t say anything more.
Upon leaving the hospital, Jane went directly to the Warner Corporation. As expected, as Daniel had said, those who refused to give up were causing a scene at the Warner Corporation.
As soon as Jane walked into the lobby of the Warner Building, he saw a group of reporters with cameras filming everything. The victim’s family was sitting on the floor, wailing and protesting.
“You took away my son’s life! Your heartless company doesn’t value the lives of workers. You made my son work so hard, and now that he’s gone, you don’t even want to compensate us. You heartless monsters, vampires…” The woman on the floor was over sixty years old, with white hair and wearing somewhat outdated clothes, looking very pitiful.
There was also a disheveled man in his thirties next to her, shouting along with the elderly woman, “You took away my brother’s life! You heartless businessmen only care about the project and not the workers‘ lives. Why doesn’t your company shut down when there’s an accident? Why isn’t it sealed
off?”
The two of them were hurling abuses back and forth, leaving the receptionist and security personnel unsure of what to do, especially with so many media reporters present.
Jane took just a glance and walked over immediately. With an indifferent expression, she looked at the three people on the floor.
“Are you the family members of the victim from the construction site?”
When they heard Jane’s voice, both the woman and the man looked up at her. Jane instantly formed a bad impression of the man as his eyes seemed to reveal some ill intentions.
“Who are you?” The woman looked at Jane and asked rudely.
“I am the person in charge of Warner Corporation. Since you are the family members of the victim, I will handle this matter. You want compensation, yet you come here to cause a disturbance. I suspect you are not here for the compensation but rather being influenced by someone else,” Jane stated matter–of–factly.
As soon as Jane’s words came out, the woman’s expression immediately changed. Observing her reaction, Jane became even more certain that there was something fishy about these two people. “What nonsense are you talking about? If your company had offered the compensation, why would we come here to protest?” The woman quickly regained her composure and loudly scolded.
“Am I talking nonsense? Then, in front of the reporters, why don’t you tell them the exact amount of compensation you are demanding?” Jane coldly retorted

Chapter 75:
The woman’s face became even more embarrassed, and she realized that Jane was not someone easy to deal with. Nevertheless, she started howling again.
“This is unfair! People like you in big corporations don’t value human life at all. You only know how to bully poor people like us.”
“My poor son, so young with a family to support, lost his life like this. How are we supposed to live from now on? Heavenly Father, open your eyes and see.”
The woman began to wail loudly, and the reporters swarmed around, bombarding Jane with questions.
“Miss, you claim to be the person in charge of Warner Corporation. Why hasn’t the CEO personally come forward to resolve this case of a life lost? Is there something shady going on?”
“Is Warner Corporation really not planning to compensate the workers?”
“How could a big corporation like Warner do such a thing?”
