Holding my hand over my heart when it squeezes hard in my chest feel Jeffrey’s hand on my back and I have to lean forward a bit to try and case the pain

Standing up straight I turn my head to look at the doctor when he stands calmly inside the room with the nurse beside him. I only get
more frustrated when he is this calm‘

“No! there has to be something you can do!” I say when Liz cries out loud. I look at the doctor and he turns his head to look at her when I see him shake his head no.
“We have done what we can but her body has started to shut down, we have already started her heart back up once and she can’t take it anymore,” he says when Liz screams and drop to the floor.
I stand in silence for a moment when I see the nurse walks over to help Liz. She is screaming and crying her heart out while I try to think of a solution, I can’t let her go. She belongs with me! I won’t give up on her‘
“What if I mark her?” I say to the doctor when he turns his head and looks at me. The one thing I could think of.
“No, it won’t do her any good. Your mark won’t change it, perhaps if she had marked you she would have been stronger” he says, and if that’s one idea we will try it! I’ll grab any possibility I can.
“Then why don’t we try it?” I say and the room falls silent when I see the doctor thinks for a long moment. The nurse helps Liz up on her feet when Chase holds her around her waist.
“Is that an option, doctor?” Liz asks with hope in her voice.
The doctor looks at me for a long moment and I’m about to run out of my patience by his silence. It takes too long before he speaks up again.
“She is sedated right now to help her body, if we pull her out of it you only have one shot to make her mark you. She will probably not have

long after we wake her up!” he says and I take a step closer to where he is.
“So we can do it?” I ask him, I’m ready to go straight away, seeing a small glimmer of hope.
“It might not make any difference, but if you are willing to try we can give it a chance,” he says and I’m ready to go right now, just let me do something to try and change was is about to happen.
“Let’s do it!” I say without any hesitation.
“I will go and prepare her for it right away,” he says and turns around to walk to the door when he stops and turn to look at me.
“You do understand what this means if she marks you and dies?” he asks and I give him a nod when he turns around and start to walk out of the room and the nurse walks after him and closes the door. Leaving us alone inside the room.
Everyone stands in silence, we all know what it means if she marks me and dies. I know the pain I will feel from losing her and it will be painful when the bond breaks. But this is the only chance we have and I will take it.
“You need to tell your parents and Noah! We will get the rest of her friends here” Chase says and I don’t want to hurt Noah and get him worried if I don’t have to, but if she doesn’t make it I can never forgive myself if he isn’t here when she passes.

“I will tell them,” I say and head out of the room, I need to be alone and mind link my father what’s happening.
Walking out of the hospital I stop beside the car and lean my arms against it before I take some deep breaths I hate to have to do this but there is no point in stalling this, I will have to go back in just a short
moment.
Mind linking my father and explain everything to him in a short version he instantly gets inside a car with Noah and my mother. They all want to be here for this!
“They have found our men, two of them are dead and the rest is injured. They were ambushed where the car stood and dragged away from there. The ones that are alive are heading over here” Jeffrey says behind me and I push of the car to walk inside.
“Did they say who was behind it?” I stop beside him and ask. I will get them all when I’m done here!
“Yes, by the look of it, there are some men from different packs who have joined her old Beta, to fight against you. The beta is only after Aliza but uses them to get what he wants” he says and I’m a bit surprised they are from different packs but I’m guessing their Alphas have no idea what’s going on.
“Get all prisoners to the cells, I will handle them later and make sure to double the guards around our borders” he gives me a nod in response before I head back inside the hospital.

Walking down the corridor I find a nurse waiting outside the waiting room with Liz and Chase. She turns to me when I walk up beside them.
“The doctor is ready, you have to come with me,” the nurse says and starts to walk down the hallway and to the double doors I’ve been inside before.
Giving Liz a short glance before I walk after her and through the doors she is holding up. Looking around I see the doctor inside a different room than before and he is working on her with two nurses. They have placed her on a bed and she is hooked up to several machines.
Walking inside the room I see her small body laying pale and unmoving on the bed. It’s painful to see her this way and I want nothing more than to hear her voice again.
“Come over here!” the doctor says and I walk closer to the bed when he turns towards me.
“We only get one shot at this! Once I wake her up it’s up to you to get her to mark you! Or we have to let her go” he tells me when I stop beside her.
