My entire composure faltered at his voice and I cursed silently. I glanced up at the couple in front of me to see the man staring at me with a raised brow. “If you would excuse me.” I said, standing up, “I need to take this.” I told them to which they just nodded while I got up and walked out. I had no idea what he wanted to talk about and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to talk to him in front of other people.
As though he could sense that I was finally alone, he called my name again and I embarrassed myself by actually shivering. I cleared my throat, it’s not like it was my fault that he always decided to call me by my full first name and in that deep, sultry voice of his. I facepalmed. I hate this man, don’t I? I can’t let my mind decide that his voice is ‘sultry’!
“Alexander.” I finally answered. “This better be important. I was in an important meeting before I got rudely interrupted.
He scoffed and I rolled my eyes, “This is about your meeting.” He said and my forehead immediately wrinkled in confusion.

“You heard me. It may be your name on it but it’s pack property. Every item in that gallery is priceless and if you remember clearly, every work of yours displayed there was bought by the pack.”
“Which is why the new price was going to cover that as well so the pack can be refunded.” I gritted out to which he only sighed like he was exhausted by me.
“You are not to sell it, Isabella. That’s final.”
I clenched my jaw, bending at my waist to grip the edge of the table, “And pray to tell how you even knew that I planned to sell it. Did you put spies on me?!” I thundered, no longer caring about the people in the other room.
“Maybe I did.” He said coolly, “What’s it to you?”
“What’s it to me?” I hu ff ed, running my hand through my hair, “Do you even hear yourself?”
It took a moment for him to reply, every second of his silence managing to add to my fury. “I have other matters to attend to.” He finally said, “This matter is not up for negotiation.” He said in a tone that demanded to be obeyed before hanging up on me.
I breathed heavily, gritting my teeth as I stared angrily at the phone. It took everything in me not to send it flying across the room. Recomposing myself the best I could, I mustered a professional smile before going back into my office, and from the worried look on Miss Kingston’s face, I could tell they had heard some of, if not the entirety of my conversation with Alexander. I walked past them and went to sit on my chair.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused.” I told them and watched the man glance down at his mate’s crestfallen look before turning back to me, his previous determined look combining with one of desperation.
“But it’s your work! You made that painting. Can you really not do anything?” He asked frantically and I shook my head.
“Sadly not. Everything in this building is pack property. For the sake of how much your wonderful mate seemed to love it, I thought I would be able to pull some strings but the Alpha is vehemently against it.” “He just took over from his father.” I added for good measure, “He could be unnecessarily stubborn from what I’ve heard.” I said maliciously.
They left feeling disappointed and on top of my anger at Alexander, I ended up feeling guilty for even giving them hope in the first place.
“You called, Miss Rossi.” My assistant said, and I nodded, sliding a file to the end of my desk for her to pick up.
“Give that to Tanya,” I said and she nodded, picking it up. “And Olivia?” I called and she turned back.
“Ma’am?”
“Don’t come back.”
She turned fully now, looking really confused. “Um, I don’t understand.” She started to say.
“It means you’re fired, Olivia. Pack your things and leave your keys. with security.”

I glared at her. Lying, spying snake. “I wonder,” I said coolly. “Did you?”
For someone as timid as a baby mouse, it took a surpris i ng
amount of time to get her to finally leave and she ended up having to get led out by the guards. I wondered if she would report it to Alexander.
Speaking of Alexander, even firing his little spy had not managed to give me peace so after an hour of striking a pen against my table and simultaneously bouncing my leg against the ground, lost in thoughts of different ways to kill a werewolf, I gave up on calming myself and got up.
“Are you leaving, Miss Rossi?” Tanya called out but I ignored her, making my way out of the Gallery and making for the entrance of the pack house.
I ignored everyone that tried to greet me, one place in mind as I walked through the pack house, locating the elevator. Luckily, it was empty and I keyed on the floor where I knew I would find him. I have never come here for the sake of seeing him before but I have been there to see his father and with him being the new Alpha, it was no doubt now his office.
I pushed open the door and walked past his secretary and ignoring her protests, I went to push open the door. Just as I thought, Alexander was in there, sitting on the large chair and behind the large mahogany desk that Alphas of the Red Moon pack from generations past had sat on. Something about him on that seat just felt right and it annoyed me to admit it. His secretary had rushed in after me probably to show that she had at least tried to stop me from coming in but Alexander simply waved her off before facing me.
“I must say, with how close you were to chewing off my head over the phone, I expected you here sooner.”
My jaw clenched and I glared at him, “You are infuriating.”
I heard a chuckle from the side and turned to see that we weren’t alone. Another man stood with his back to the wall and his arms folded. “You must be Isabella. I’m Blaze.” He said, stretching out a hand for a handshake which I ignored.
