Alexander’s POV
I turned to the man that brought me in with a glare and he shrunk back.
“I’m sure he’ll be here soon.” He stuttered and just then, I heard the sound of a door closing and when I turned around, Alpha Joe was walking towards me.
“I’m so sorry, Alexander.” He said grabbing a remote from the center table and with one push of a button the music died down. “You’d think after baby number six your mate would spare you all these numerous baby showers and parties.”
He glanced at the man that had ushered me in, “I said to get people to clean up this place!” He spoke sternly before turning back to me, the crease in his forehead easing and the apologetic look back on his face.
He kept explaining and apologizing as he led me into his office while a couple of maids appeared to clean up the room as we left it.
He sat behind his desk and gestured for me to take a seat on the chair in front of it which I wasted no time in doing.
He sighed as he ran his hand through his hair, “I didn’t even know it was scheduled for today or I wouldn’t have wasted your time, making you come here and making you wait. When I found out it was today, I tried to get out of it but if you know my mate, you’d already know how futile that was. I made them tell you it was a meeting so you won’t be too pissed.”
“It’s alright, I understand,” I said, willing him to stop talking about all that and get to the point of why I was here, genuinely tired of hearing him talk about mates and babies. Annoying, if you ask me.

“Thank you.” He said and cleared his throat. “To go straight to the point, I’m sorry about this tragic incident that has occurred and I can only imagine what a pain it is which is why I want to offer the assistance of my pack in helping you to find your mate. It is no secret that your pack is the most, powerful in the entire south region making you prone to attacks from rogues and envious packs alike. The question is was the person who kidnapped your mate a rogue or an envious pack, that is, of course, eliminating the possibility that she…ran away.”
“She did not run away,” I growled and he nodded quickly. “There is evidence to prove that,” I added so as not to sound simply like an irrationally angry werewolf.
“I’m sure she did not.” He said. “Anyway, I’m sure you and your pack have already been doing the best you can to find her as this isn’t just anybody. Your Luna has been kidnapped and I want to help in any way I can. Could you think of anybody who would want to hurt you for whatever reason? I know rogues and Alphas of enemy packs are the easiest suspects since they want to harm your pack but could you think of anyone who wants to hurt you?”
Just before I could think of an answer to give him, I felt voices pressing at the back of my mind and tapped into it to hear the guys talking randomly and then someone seemed to realize that I was now paying attention because I soon heard Caleb’s voice clearly as he spoke to me.
“Found something!”
My ears instantly perked up along with my eyebrow and remembering that Alpha Joe had asked a question, I shook my head at him in reply before tuning out of most of what he was saying and completely tuning into my pack.
“Found what?” I asked in a voice that urged them to go straight to the point.
“Believe it or not, I’m actually holding a hanky that clearly belongs to

your mate.‘
My jaw ticked.
“What do you mean, ‘clearly‘?”
“Apart from the fact that the same signature on all her art is embroidered on it? It also reeks of her scent.”

“Calm down and don’t go off on Joe, though. There may be more to this. Mason’s reasonable voice came through a quick second after and I quickly agreed with him, glad that his words came in when they did otherwise I’d have had Alpha Joe under the most intense glare which would have immediately told him that something was up before I even got a chance to fully investigate.
Although I knew that no one could be trusted, I couldn’t really see what Alpha Joe’s motive would be in having a hand in my mate’s kidnap whether directly or indirectly, and then calling me here to discuss how to find her. Even if there might be a motive somewhere, I didn’t want to in my anger deny him the benefit of doubt at the possibility that he might have been framed.
“Okay, continue. You may find something else.” I said to them before cutting off the connection.
I turned back to Alpha Joe who seemed to not have noticed that I had been mentally absent for those seconds. I didn’t blame him though, I had mastered the art of keeping my face and eyes neutral while linking
someone.
It was normally really easy to know when a werewolf was linking someone as the eyes usually glaze over and the person looked just as absent but to Alpha Joe, just now, I just had a hard look on my face with equally hard and concentrated eyes.

his pack at the back of my mind for the time being, I listened to him give his input on things he thought might help which included a lot of things I already knew and had done as well as a couple of other things that I hadn‘ t thought of before but I thought were really insightful.
After all of that, he promised to be on the lookout and told me that he had already ordered his men to join the search. He also told me to make sure I contacted him if I needed more help and to tell him if there was a specific thing I needed.
I thanked him for his help and assistance as well as politely congratulated him on his newest baby who was soon to be born to which he had beamed. I got up and assured him that I’d keep in touch.
“Are you leaving immediately?‘ He asked and I nodded while linking Caleb, Mason, and the others to come back to the pack house.
“Yes, I have a lot of things to take care of.”
“Of course. I understand. Let me escort you out.” He offered and I shook my head.
“It’s fine. I remember the way out.”
Alpha Joe shook his head with a small smile, “I insist. What kind of host would I be otherwise? And it’s your first time in my pack as well.”
I didn’t have anything against him seeing me out, I just didn’t see why he should bother so I just nodded and let him do as he insisted.
He talked a bit about some random stuff as we made our way out and towards the entrance and exit of the pack house where Caleb, Mason, and the rest were thankfully already waiting.
Alpha Joe’s eyes glazed over and I could instantly tell that he was linking someone and soon after he stopped, the car that had driven us down here from the border drove in. The driver got down and bowed to his Alpha
