Twenty–Six
Alexander’s POV
The fight was getting bloodier and bloodier. Wolves were injured but thankfully only rogues had died then again, it’s not like I expected any of these scraggly things to possibly beat six Alpha wolves along with Betas and trained fighters. I just wished the fight wouldn’t prolong so much. I was already annoyed that my attempt at a good introduction between me and the other packs was off to a terrible start. Now they’ll remember me as the premature Alpha who was so careless he had put them and their beloved Lunas in danger.
Pinning down one rogue with rusty fur, I growled loudly in his face before extending my claws and piercing down till I felt bone, rendering him weak before going for his neck where I bit with all the anger I’d been cultivating.
My eyes flickered to the door Isabella left earlier on. It wasn’t the same one Mason and Caleb led the guests out through and if I was right and she had been drinking after all then she may not know what is going on. I said a short prayer to the goddess that she remain oblivious till the end.
This has gone on way too long. My father linked to me and I winced.
I know Father. There are just a few of them left. I linked back and he simply grunted. I wanted to tell him to resign from the fight but I knew that it would be a pointless suggestion. He simply would not.

I didn’t understand why the rogues were not retreating. We outnumbered them and most of them lay dead. Usually, they would retreat after such a turnout since it was practically defeat but them still being here made me wonder if more of them were expected to show up.
I jumped on another rogue but this one was one of the stronger ones. I pinned him down but I had barely looked at his neck when he clawed at my arms, flipping me over before scratching my face from my forehead, through my left eye, and stopping just before my lip.
I growled out in pain and anger just before flipping him over again. I was about to go in for the kill when I saw her….and faltered giving the rogue enough time to throw me off him. My back hit the pillar with a heavy smack and my eyes widened when I heard a sound.
My pack members and the guests seemed to hear it too because they quickly evacuated the area leaving the entire entryway to fall onto the rogues…and Isabella.
Raw fear spread through me, curdling my blood and making it almost impossible to move. But almost immediately, my brain snapped into action and I propelled myself forward, running into the ruins while linking Blake to keep everything under control and finish off any rogue that may have survived. I couldn’t see Isabella so I used her scent to locate her, finding a wolf instead of the human form I expected to see.
Thad never seen Isabella’s wolf but I was certain it was her.
Her scent was strong and so was the bond as our wolves met for the first time. The fact that I could still feel the bond told me that she was not dead but with how still she was, I had to check her to make sure she was still breathing to calm my
heart.
Her pretty outfit lay shredded beside her and I had to commend her quick thinking because if those rocks had fallen. on her in human form, she definitely wouldn’t have made it and just the thought of that and it felt like tiny needles had been fired to my heart, covering the entire surface area of it.
Shaking off the cruel thoughts, I focused on freeing her from the rocks that half buried her wolf before carrying her behind a wall and away from the eyes of anyone who may be watching to avoid confusion or a plethora of questions.
They would not expect me to be carrying a rogue away like that and next, they’ll wonder which of the guests had been hurt and after I’d tell them that it wasn’t any guest, they’ll ask who it was and if they find out it’s Isabella…well, I really would not like to explain why I couldn’t leave her side right now. Not even if they suggest taking her to the pack doctor.
Placing her down, I began to examine her, licking any wounds I found until they healed while monitoring her breathing with every passing second.
Her fur was golden brown with streaks of gold as well as one white streak running through the middle of her body. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I was certain. I had never encountered a wolf with such captivating fur.
While I was still admiring her beautiful, soft fur, she suddenly shifted, her size reducing underneath me until I was staring down at her naked ivory skin. My breath hitched in my throat as I’m faced with her beautiful anatomy before averting my gaze feeling like I was committing a sin somehow.

with the fact that we weren’t the only ones here before going down on her, not wanting anyone to see her like this.
I was still thinking of how to get her away when Mason suddenly showed up. He was in human form and he winced as he took in the mess that had been made of the exhibition. Broken walls, broken glasses, and dead rogues strewn everywhere. I followed his eyes and I had to wince too, my heart clenching as feelings of failure spread through me. Then his gaze fell back on me and his eyes widened,
“Is that-?”
I didn’t let him complete his question as I followed his eyes once again to the face of the woman underneath me. Go get me a sheet or blanket or something like that. I commanded and he sped away, asking no further questions.
Luckily, it didn’t take him very long and something told me that the only reason that no one had ventured down here was because Blake was preventing them. Mason soon came back with a large dark–colored blanket in his hands.
Leave! I told him simply but seriously and he gave me a concerned look before he dropped the blanket and did as I asked. Not wasting any more time, I shifted and wrapped the blanket around Isabella before hoisting up her still
unconscious body onto my shoulder.
I was butt naked as I carried her through one of the private doors into the pack house but I couldn’t care less and besides nakedness wasn’t exactly a strange sight among werewolves. We had to get naked during training to shift into our wolf form after all and even if you usually hide to change, in the face of real danger, there wouldn’t be any time for such

concerns.
I made my way to the Alpha wing, Isabella secured by just my arm. I wondered if she was extremely light or if I was just strong. I took advantage of my knowledge of the pack house as I navigated stairs that were hardly used until I got to where I was headed. Sure I was spotted by a few people but once they saw who it was, they were quick to mind their business.
I kicked open my doors and carried her in like she was an egg. I gently and carefully placed her down on my bed before adjusting the blanket so that she was covered and
comfortable. I stood beside her for a long while, just staring at
her.
She looked so serene it was almost scary but the number of times I had observed her breathing was enough to tell me that she seemed alright. I couldn’t believe that she had almost died today. The thought was humbling and I refused to think about what I would’ve done if that happened. I wish I could just watch her sleep and nothing else because once she wakes up, she’ll open her mouth and look at me with those eyes of hers and then we’ll fight. Like we always do.
Realizing I was still the Alpha and I had rogues attack my pack while we had guests over and I had a lot to take care of right now, I linked the pack doctor and made her swear to secrecy after telling her that Miss Rossi was here.
I didn’t know where else to take her just in case she might still blab to her friend who will blab to an acquaintance. Although Isabella was still breathing, I didn’t want to take any chances. In case there were any underlying problems, the doctor would find them.

After making sure she was in safe hands, I left to face the music, linking Mason to go to my room and supervise.
