Isabella’s POV
I covered the small distance between us both and nuzzled into him. He ran his fingers along my fur and under my ears causing my wolf to whimper in delight but when I peeked up at him, he still had a pout on his face. Sighing internally, I shifted back and climbed unto his lap. wrapping my arm around his shoulder and resting my head and my other palm on his chest. I stroked his chest softly and smiled when he tightened his arms around me, nuzzling into my neck. I felt his warm breath on my neck just fleetingly before he pulled away and had me face him.
“Please take a guard with you next time.” He said and I sighed, wrapping my arms around him once so that my neck was leaning on his shoulder and I was facing his back.
“Yes, Alpha.”
He tugged at me but I didn’t budge, “I’m serious, Isabella.”
I repositioned myself on his laps so that I was now stradling him. Making sure to look straight at him, I cupped his face with both my hands. “I know. I know and I’m sorry I made you worry. It’s just…it’s hard to live a life where I have to be cautious all the time. It was just shopping with Chloe, I didn’t want to make it weird and uncomfortable by having a guy follow us around.”
“A guard.” He corrected. “I understand how you feel and I’m sorry you have to be cautious all the time because of me–”
“No. No, I take back my words if it’s going to make you blame yourself.” I said, hugging him before pulling back and looking straight at him, once again. “I love you and it’s not like I’ll trade being with you for anything in

the world so I might as well get used to having guards follow me around.” I told him and a small smile tugged at his lips.
“I love you.” He said, honesty dripping like honey from his words.
I grinned at him, “I love you, baby.” I whispered the words into his ear before grinding into him. His head fell forward, leaning over my shoulder as he groaned in pleasure. I smirked, it was always a joy to see how much I was able to bring him pleasure and how easily I aroused him.
Getting up from him. I turned around to make my way to the bathroom but Alexander pulled me back and with a firm grip on my waist, kissed me full on the lips. A kiss I couldn’t help but to smile into.
“Don’t tease me like that.” He whispered into my ear before spinning me back around and spanking my ass when I made to walk away again. I squealed before bursting into a fit of giggles. It was crazy how he made me act like a highschooler sometimes.
I had a slow, warm bath and when I went into the closet to dress up right after. I saw a note in Alexander’s handwriting telling me that he had gone downstairs to attend to some important stuff stuck to one of the shelves. Having been looking forward to at least an hour of cuddling and just talking about our day before bed. I pouted a little but shrugged eventually knowing we’d still had enough time for that. Alexander always tries his best to get back before I sleep these days, no matter how busy his day is and I really do appreciate his efforts. I’ve sat with him one too many times while he worked and I knew firsthand just how busy his days become on most days so it really did mean a lot for him to make sure he’s back even if it’s a second before I fall asleep.
I put on my pyjamas and decided to go grab some snacks from the kitchen downstairs. I admit I was eating a lot of snacks and junk food lately but I refused to be bothered. Luckily, Mrs Cole had made a fresh batch of cookies so I grabbed a plate and piled up just enough to satisfy my cravings for the night. I also made a quick cup of hot chocolate to take

with me, thinking about how good it was that I always trained and never missed my workouts otherwise it would have been impossible to stay in shape with my current eating habits.
I was just coming out of the kitchen when I saw Alexander’s mom walking in my direction. She beamed when she saw me, coming up to me and taking the stuff from my hand and placing them on a nearby stool before she pulled me close and hugged me tight.
“How are you dear Bella?” She asked with her usual warm smile when she pulled away and looked at me.
I mustered up a small smile for her, “I’m fine, thank you Luna.” I told her and she smiled. She has tried and failed severally to get me to stop calling her Luna. I mean, I know I was Luna of the pack now but she was my Luna and I was too used to calling her that. “How are you?” I asked politely.
I’ve barely spoken to Alexander’s mom in the past month. I knew that she was doing her best to fill in the gap left by my own mom and I wonder if that was what made me withdraw a little. I didn’t want anyone to take the place of my mom. I didn’t want anyone to even try. I didn’t tell her that though, of course and knowing that she does all that she does because she cares, I tried my best to be civil and polite and not let my personal fears and feelings get in the way.
“As good as I can be.” She smiled.
“Um, I’m guessing you want to see Alexander. He’s in his study actually.” I said but she just shook her head,
“No Bella, I came to see you.” She said with a suggestive look on her face that had me giggling. She sounded like she was trying to initiate a girls‘ night. The kind were the topic was exclusively boys. I now noticed that she was also dressed in PJs.
“I don’t think we have enough snacks.” I said and she smirked.
“Back to the kitchen then.” She winked at me before gesturing for me to lead the way.
We went back to the kitchen and I reheated my hot chocolate before making another cup for my mother–in–law. I also grabbed some more cookies and heated up a couple slices of frozen pizza for something a bit more savory. We went back to my room, both of us holding a plate and a cup each in our both hands.
I don’t know how Alexander’s mom managed to keep up with young people trends but it was really fun to see and hear her do and mention some stuff that must people her age wouldn’t know much about or be interested in. She talked about how she met her mate and how magical it was when they looked into each other’s eyes and just knew. When she described the previous Alpha when he was much younger, he sounded very unfamiliar. She described a more laid back and fun person and if I wasn’t hearing it from her mouth, I wouldn’t have believed he could ever be like that. Luckily for her, they had enough time to be just mates before the former Alpha had to take over from his own father. A couple of years to travel to different places as a couple. Admittedly, I couldn’t help but feel a little envious when she said that. It would be really fun to travel with Alexander; just the two of us.
Her mate’s father was always strict. Not strict in the way her mate and Alexander were but strict in the completely unfeeling way and he was always at war with his son.
“His father put so much pressure on him when it was time to take over until he became the cold and unsmiling person that you know now.” She told me. “While I love that he’s always playful and caring with me till this day, I kinda miss the old him when it comes to how he relates with others sometimes.”
It was quite fun to learn all that about my mate’s father. I mean who would have thought that he used to have a fun and playful side to him. I mean, I’ve hardly seen him cry personally. After that she began to

playfully demand when she’s going to get to see her first grandchild. I just laughed telling her that I’m going to get pregnant whenever I get pregnant and she had pouted at my words. As the night went on, I realized that although Alexander’s mom could never replace mine, I had indeed missed her bubbly personality and it may just be what I needed to fully heal. Even when my mom was still around, I had enjoyed Alexander’s mom’s
company. There was no reason why I shouldn’t now.
