Hundred and One
Alexander’s POV
Even though I was completely alert and aware that I was surrounded, I inclined my head and watched her run. I knew I would only be at peace if I was sure that she was going to be safe and only when I was at peace would I be able to fight properly.
I was glad she listened because the wolves surrounding me were indeed rogues. Merciless, blood–thirsty rogues who multiplied by the second. Good thing that while I was not blood–thirsty, I was also merciless…with troublemakers like them.
When, I could see that Isabella was completely out of sight, I turned to the rogues who seemed to be growing annoyed with each second I was depriving them of attention.
I was the only one in human form, surrounded by snarling angry looking wolves, their mouths dripping with saliva.
“What do you want?” I demanded but instead of replying, one of them made the first move and pounced on me but I saw it coming and my hands were already out, ready to defend.
It was certainly not as easy to fight another wolf when you were in human form but I still managed to overpower him and lots of others that dared to attack me.
I had just flung one off me with ease when a bigger one, jumped on my back with a surprisingly huge force that brought me to my knees. The rogue suddenly bit my shoulder and I growled out in pain as he managed to pin me down.
I twisted myself so that I was now lying on my back and facing upwards

and just when I grabbed the shoulders, preparing to flip the rogue over, another wolf suddenly appeared and bit the rogue deep in the back causing him to howl into the air before he was brutally flung off me.
It wasn’t until she came to help me up that I properly detected the scent and realized that it was no other person than my mate. I cursed as I let her help me up, at loss of what to say about her reappearance.
Even if I had the words, I know I didn’t have the time to scold her right now. I mean this was obviously dangerous and she knew it.
“Get behind me.” I said simply and I was glad when she listened. Even though she stayed behind me, it did not stop her from fighting but then that could not be helped; she was already in the middle of the fight whether I liked it or not and when she was attacked, she had to defend her self.
With the way the rogues kept multiplying, I knew that there was only so much I could handle on my own while still trying to protect Isabella and so I began to try mindlinking my friends.
I wasn’t sure whether it was the distraction of fighting and throwing wolves off my back or that we were too far away but I couldn’t reach anyone. That reality only aided in frustrating me further.
I tried to link Blake, Caleb, Mason and a few others but I got no reply.
Turning around, I saw a wolf pounce on Isabella and I growled, pulling him off and landing a blow his jaw before throwing him to the side. I went to Isabella and calmed down a little when I saw that she wasn’t hurt.
She still whimpered occasionally though and I knew that the pain from my own yet–to–be–healed shoulder injury was affecting her through the bond. I realized that I should be more careful now that I have marked her as hurting myself would hurt her as well.
While I was still watching her in concern, I loosened my guard and one of

the rogues crept up on me from behind but before I could turn to fight back, Isabella’s wolf flew over my crouched figure and pounced on the wolf, knocking him out.
It amazed me the way they kept increasing and I wondered if pack security was just that useless. At this point even rogues in human forms were beginning to appear and it made things even harder.
I could be concentrating on fighting a rogue in wolf form and one in human form would come behind me with a knife.
I still tried to mindlink Blake and the others but it was no use. Groaning in anger and exhaustion, I grabbed the man behind me and twisted back his hand until his knife fell to the ground.
I stepped on it and held it under my feet as I twisted his arm, waiting to hear the satisfying pop sound that would signify that I’ve successfully broken it or at least dislocated it.
“Let him go!” A voice bellowed behind me and I spun around to face a female rogue holding Isabella’s wolf in a chokehold, a sharp knife pressed to her neck.
My eyes widened and for the first time since the fight began, I felt fear course through me and a shiver went down my spine.
To see Isabella in that position where the slightest movement would allow that knife plunge into her neck was not an easy sight. I could also hear her fast paced heartbeat and I could tell that she was scared. So scared.
“Let him go or she dies.” She said and without a second thought, I let the rogue in my hold fall to the ground grasping his arms as he winced in pain.
I looked at her, my gaze hard and expectant and with a smirk, she let Isabella go, roughly throwing her to the ground.

I was fuming as I crossed the small distance between us, grabbed her shirt at the front and pushing it up to her neck, strangling her the way she had been doing to Isabella just moments ago.
I threw a slap across her face loving the sting I felt on my own hand, knowing that it had done even greater damage on her face.
Female or not, I did not condone silly games like threatening to kill my mate and the audacity to look so smug while at it.
No one and I mean NO ONE touched, hurt or even threatens my mate whoever it may be because there would be consequences.
The fight quickly began to disperse. I wasn’t sure if it was the murderous look in my eyes as I glared down at the rogue I had in a chokehold or if they just got bored, but they soon began to scamper away.
Just then different familiar scents hit my nose and the rogue in my grasp began to struggle. I saw Caleb, Mason and Blake run through the bushes to where we were. Their eyes quickly scanned the environment.
“We came as quick as we could.” Blake said.
“Sorry, we didn’t realize that something went wrong.”
“Yeah, we decided to come check up on you guys since it had been taking too long. It seems there has just been a fight.”
My eyes and Caleb’s locked on Isabella at the same time and I felt a guilty for choosing revenge over making sure the person I was fighting for was alright.
Today was not easy on her mentally and emotionally and now she had been fighting for almost an hour. Caleb ran to her, where she lay collapsed on the ground, no doubt exhausted from everything.
He went to help her up and I took the dagger from the rogue and stabbed her leg with it before throwing her to the ground, not wanting her to

escape so easily. I pushed my sticky hair out of my face as I walked to where Isabella was.
Thankfully, Mason had thought to bring a blanket because in this state that she was, she could shift back on her own accord and I would hate for her to be naked in front of anyone that wasn’t me.
Wrapping the blanket around her, I stroked the fur on her head gently, “It‘ s okay baby, you can shift back now.” I whispered, stroking her fur continuously until she shifted and her weight reduced in my arms.
I made sure the blanket covered her fully and properly before getting up with her in my arms. I began to walk towards the direction of the pack house when I remembered that I had a little unfinished business.
I turned slightly and faced my Beta and the rest of them who stood behind me waiting for my orders. I jerked my head towards the rogue who lay on the ground, breathing heavily and trying to crawl away.
“Blake, take care of that. She threatened to kill the Luna. I plan to make her understand that there are consequences to foolish actions.” I said and was about to turn to walk away again when I realized that although Blake had turned to see the woman I told him to ensure was punished, he still stood in the spot that he was, unmoving.
I turned back around to face them and Blake just stood there, his lips sightly parted as he stared down at the rogue.
