Zora’s POV
“Please, let this one slide. After all, Alpha Jake already gave us lots of support. As I stated before, Iris poisoned me on her own. I believe she did it because she was upset at Darius for not choosing her to be his mate at a ball held by Nellie,” I said as I poked Darius to downplay the situation
around it.
Both Kara and Eloise giggled, but that was that. Nobody chuckled about this. So, all of us felt very weird.
“Fine, I might as well be working on my duty today if all of us are going to stay on this topic,” I continued as I tried to rise from my seat, but my mate quickly prevented me from getting up.
“Let us speak of our undertaking,” the Dark Lord calmly said as he was staring at his Beta who then cleared his throat.
It seemed to me that Darius‘ words managed to lift the weird mood up. Soon enough, everyone was focused on the topic.
“I’ve already told my Beta and sent him the list for the rebels in the south. They’ll be put in arrest and moved to the dungeons tomorrow night,” Hardy reported as Darius nodded his head.
“Both Cruz and Shepherd are also in. Obviously, they’re upset with this. I already sent Dustin the list. He’s now working with both Cruz and Shepherd to gather those rebels up. The only problem we have is that most of them are in the north at the All–Regional Games, so we must put them in dungeons here,” Casey then spoke up.

The undertaking will happen tomorrow night. We must work on it when they’re asleep in order to steer away from fighting,” Darius then told of his plan as everyone agreed.
“What about the council?” Marcel asked, but Hardy just smirked.
“We’re putting a king on the throne, Marcel. The council isn’t considered any longer. The moment Casey, you, Raphael, and Christian already agreed to it. There’s nothing that the council can do except accept the fact that Darius is a king.” Hardy explained to Marcel.
“What about Vino then? This will make his power go weak,” Eloise also asked, but Casey answered with a shrug.
“Well, the Lawrecne family isn’t actually from the north. They were promoted to the noble status by the last king. It means that Vino’s feelings and opinions won’t be considered. Besides, he should be grateful that he’s not going to be expelled because his late aunt is actually on that list,” my ex–husband responded, but Raphael quickly shook his head.
“While she’s indeed on the list, Jenny was put in the Babanin family’s seat. Whatever she does would affect the Babanin family, not the Lawrence family,” Raphael firmly said, causing Darius to clear his throat.

“Well, you must remove that law, Darius. Otherwise, both Marcel and Raphael will be in huge trouble thanks to Gezel and Carla. I still had no idea what those women were trying to think of. Why would they wish to get seats on the council? They were already a part of the royalty. Their actions were plain stupid,” Hardy told Darius.
However, all of us had the same opinion as him. Some of us even chuckled because Hardy was actually correct about Darius who didn’t have a choice but to remove the law. It was very dumb of both Gezel and Carla to be involved in such a chaos like this.
Kara, Eloise, and I became the first people to leave the dining hall. Since I didn’t wish to talk with Casey yet, trying to make myself busy would be the best choice I had. Furthermore, I also wished to speak to Lori first before I spoke to my ex–husband.
While the three of us were going through the hallway, Casey called my name. It made me keep quiet in my tracks. It seemed that it would be impossible for me to avoid him. In the end, I took a deep breath as turned my body to look at the man who was getting closer to me. Meanwhile, Kara just giggled because she realized that I had been steering away from my ex–husband.
“We already faced ours. Now, it’s your time to face yours,” Eloise told me as she laughed, then both Kara and her quickly walked away while they were laughing before I could even retort her remark.
Those friends of mine were just being playful.
“Hi,” Casey greeted me softly as soon as he got closer to me..
“Hi too,” I responded to him, causing him to sigh.

“Do you mind if we talk about something in the common room? I swear that I won’t waste too much of your time,” the man told me as I stared back at him.
There was a time the man didn’t even need my approval to speak with me at all. Everything had already changed. Most importantly, my heart already moved on from him.
“Okay,” I responded to him as I brought him to Darius‘ sitting room.
“Darius told me that we still can be friends,” Casey said as both of us were walking, which made me frown as I stared at the man again.
“Did he?” I asked him, to which he responded with a nod.
“Yeah. Darius told us that both of us had our past together. He didn’t wish to remove that. Furthermore, he believes you,” the man said, prompting me to show my smile because I realized that Darius was indeed capable of saying something like that.
After that, both Casey and I entered the common room. Then, we sat on the couch. Casey sat himself on a couch next to mine so that he could be near me. Not long after both of us sat down, there was an awkward silence that happened between us. He eventually broke the silence as he sighed.
“Zora,” he called my name, but his voice sounded shaky and dejected this time.
“Please forgive me,” the man apologized, but I quickly shook my head because I wished to stop him.
Nevertheless, Casey gently used his palm to shut my mouth. It made me stare at his eyes. His eyes were begging me to allow him to talk. Hence, I relaxed myself as he softly withdrew his hand.
