Chapter 7 It’s Brenda Again!
Lemuel rushed to the hospital, only to find that Krista had already been moved out of the emergency room.
She lay in the hospital bed, eyes red and swollen from crying.
“What happened?” Lemuel asked.
Krista grabbed his wrist and burst into tears again.
“It’s Brenda! It’s all because of her! Lemuel, I can’t take it anymore, I just can’t…”
Lemuel looked at Krista’s hand on his wrist, frowned, and gently pulled it away before saying,
“Tell me what happened.”
Krista’s heart sank even more when she realized that Lemuel rejected her touch even when she was hurting.
So she blamed everything on Brenda.
“I was going to be discharged from the hospital today when Brenda rushed over and rubbed my nose with the marriage license she just got with you.
“She called me a mistress and threatened to beat me to death…”
Lemuel became sullen instar
It was Brenda again!
Why couldn’t she just leave him alone for one peaceful day?
Krista asked Lemuel softly,
“Lemuel, did you really get married to Brenda?”
Lemuel replied, “That’s between me and her. It has nothing to do with you. I’ll talk to her and make sure she leaves you alone. Just stay calm and don’t do anything reckless.”
Krista’s heart shattered at Lemuel’s response.
She couldn’t accept it. “Lemuel, why would you marry her? What’s so special about her besides being pretty? She’s just a small–town girl. She doesn’t deserve to be with you…”
Seeing Lemuel become displeased, Krista stopped talking.
Lemuel made it clear that it was between him and Brenda and had nothing to do with Krista, which implied that Krista had no right to intervene.
Krista was very upset, but she changed the subject.
“Lemuel, Brenda said she would have someone to take care of me when she left. I’m scared. Can you stay here with me tonight?”
Lemuel nodded.
Krista felt a lot better instantly. She thought, “Lemuel did marry Brenda, but he still loved me!
It’s their wedding night tonight, but Brenda will be alone. She will be pissed.”
Thinking that Brenda would be pissed, Krista became happy.
However, things didn’t go as she planned. Lemuel received a call from Tyrone just after dark.
“Lemuel, when you hung out with flirtatious women, I didn’t say anything. You weren’t married yet. But you have a wife now. You have to be responsible for your family and loyal to her!”
Lemuel frowned. “Grandpa, Krista is…”
“Don’t mention her name! And don’t forget our agreement. You will sleep in the same room with Brenda after marriage. Your marriage period will be extended by one year if you separate with her for one night!”
With that said Tyrone hung up the phone sullenly.
The beeping sound of the other end gave Lemuel a headache.
He was forced to marry Brenda on the premise that they would only be married for two years. If he didn’t fall in love with Brenda after two years, he would have a divorce!
Tyrone had some other demands too, one of which was that Lemuel had to share a bedroom with Brenda for two whole
years. If they spent even one night apart, the marriage period would extend by another year!
Lemuel let out a heavy sigh, put his phone away, glanced at Krista, and said,
“I gotta go. Take care of yourself. I won’t let Brenda cause any trouble for you.”
With that, Lemuel left. Krista was boiling with anger, ready to rip the bedsheet into shreds!
She was determined to get back at Brenda. So she grabbed her phone and made a call.
“200 grand, do whatever it takes to make her suffer. And if anything goes wrong, I’ll take the blame…”
