Chapter 5 A Husband Not Named
All the people present fell into silence.
George raised his head. The coffin was right on his left.
Something bloody suddenly thrust through the sea of flowers covering the coffin.
“What’s that? Is that a hand?”
“I thought Isabelle’s body hasn’t been found yet!”
The funeral turned spooky.
Suddenly, a woman covered in blood climbed out of the coffin, crying. “Dad! I hurt so much! Am I dead already?”
George raised his head rigidly. He was scared to shit and fell on the ground.
The bloody body crawled out of the coffin and made its way to Julia. “Julia, I feel so hurt. My little sister stomped my hand like this.”
It then moved towards Tonya. “My dear little sister, you asked the kidnappers to beat me hard, didn’t you?”
Julia and Tonya both screamed and collapsed.
The three of them all turned pale.
Tonya couldn’t stop screaming with her hands covering her head.
“Didn’t those people kill her? How came she made her way back? Help! Help! Leave me alone!”

That was very telling.
Isabelle rose to her feet slowly with a sneer.
Finally, some sensible people in the crowd took the courage to ask, “Ms. Spencer, you are not dead, are you?”
“Of course not!” Isabelle walked over and stomped on Tonya’s hand. She lowered her head and sneered. “But the strange thing is, all my family believe that I am dead. They didn’t even try to look for me. Why do you think makes that?”
That was shocking.
Isabelle smiled with red eyes. “Is it because things are easier to do when I am buried dead? My company goes to Tonya and my will can be fabricated. Did I leave my property to Tonya? Dad, you must have forgotten how Brandon and Tonya hired a group of kidnappers, trying to have me raped and murdered in the mountain!”
“Gosh, what’s happening? I thought she was killed by her lover!”
“Is she implying that the Spencer family attempted to murder her?”
George stared at Isabelle. He was now sure that she was still alive.
George reacted quickly. He dashed over to hug Isabelle. “What good news! You’re alive! You’re alive!”
“Well, Dad, I haven’t had enough of my life,” Isabelle turned to Brandon like a ghost. “Before the wedding, my fiancé and my step- sister had an affair. Tonya even got pregnant. They tried to kill me for the sake of their baby. How could I die without repaying such ‘kindness“?”
Tonya and Brandon panicked. They looked pale.

The crowd started to whisper. A few reporters came out of nowhere with cameras held high in their hands.
George hurried to gesture at the security guards.
“Oh, dear Bella, what are you talking about? Is your brain damaged?”
Julia tried to dash over and cover Isabelle’s mouth. She forced a few teardrops and said, “Are you mad at me and your dad? We are truly sorry. We thought you were dead. We couldn’t find your body. Your dad never stopped crying in the past ten days. Your company can’t survive without a proper management team. That’s why we have to announce your will! You drafted it yourself?”
“We both love you, Bella. Don’t be mad at us, please.” George wept again.
Isabelle got rid of Julia’s head immediately. She didn’t feel like talking to them. Isabelle glanced at the other guests at the funeral.
She walked down the stairs and smiled at the reporters. “Promise me you will write about what happened today. How juicy!”
The reporters were all shocked to see her impressive face.
“Bella!” Glenda screamed with joy.
Isabelle walked over and glanced at the female subordinate who spread rumors about her. Isabelle slapped her right in the face and said, “You saw me sleep with those male shareholders? How much did Tonya pay you for saying that? Try to get as much as you can, because you will lose your job soon.”
The woman turned pale.
What Isabelle said was all heard by the reporters. It was shocking.

In a quiet private room in a cafe, Glenda held Isabelle tight. She couldn’t stop crying.
“You’re pregnant?” Glenda widened her eyes in shock. She felt bad for Isabelle. “What have you been through, Bella? None of these would have happened if I were in Donsborough ten days ago. I would have stopped that bitch and that bastard…”
Glenda blamed herself for trusting Brandon too much.
Isabelle clenched her fists and retold what had happened.
Glenda was even more shocked. “So you are saying that not only you were knocked up, but you were also forced to marry the man who knocked you up?”
“It was just an agreement. They took me and left me with no other options, Glenda.”
Glenda was in doubt. She hurried to throw more questions.
“Who is he? From which family? He’s not some hooligan, is he?”
Isabelle shook her head. “He’s been wearing a mask all the time. I don’t even know his name.”
“What?” Glenda was shocked. “What kind of husband you are married
to?”
Isabelle forced a bitter smile and changed the topic. “Let’s not talk about him. Glenda, you major in programming. I could definitely use your help.”
Glenda knew what Isabelle was planning immediately. She then turned on her laptop. The news was all about the funeral, just as was

anticipated. People raised various theories on how Isabelle survived.
Isabelle showed Glenda a few photos.
“How dare they? They went to get married at the city hall?” Though the woman in the photo was wearing a cap, Glenda immediately recognized her as Tonya.
Before Isabelle said anything, Glenda had already sent the photos to each and every media company in Donsborough.
It became a hot topic in five minutes.
“Are they Isabelle’s fiancé and Tonya? Did they just meet up at the city hall this morning?”
“Isabelle said at the funeral that Brandon and Tonya were having an affair. Tonya was knocked up and that was why they worked together to plot Isabelle’s murder.”
“What Isabelle said matches the photos! Isabelle has a company and a large amount of assets. Did the Spencer family attempt to murder their own daughter for the wealth?”
Just as Isabelle and Glenda were having fun reading all these comments, discussions on Isabelle’s funeral were suppressed.
Isabelle’s phone rang.
Isabelle took a glance and smirked. She then picked up the call with coldness. “Hey, dad, what’s up?”
George held his anger back and said, “Bella, photos of Brandon and Tonya have been spread widely on social media. Don’t take those photos seriously. They are fabricated. Where are you now? Come back home, my baby girl. I’m worried that you may get hurt. Julia has made you dinner. Just come back!”

“What photos?” Isabelle spoke as if she knew nothing about the photos.
Isabelle smiled and said obediently, “Sure, dad. I will be back home soon.”
“Good, good. I’ll be waiting for you,” George sounded desperate.
Glenda opposed at once. “Are you losing your mind, Bella? He’s begging you to come home. He must be plotting against you!”
Isabelle said, “Well, I’ll handle it. Don’t worry. I won’t play ugly so far. There’s something unusual about my mother’s death. Also, I have a hunch that my grandpa must have left me something more than just money. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have rushed to kill me.”
Something usual? Like a murder? Glenda realized that Isabelle was determined to find out the truth.
“Be careful then!”
“Don’t you think I’m still that fragile little girl I was ten days ago?
Because I’m not!”
Nothing but coldness appeared in Isabelle’s eyes.
She almost died there. Glenda’s heart ached for Bella.
“Do you still keep my medical toolkit?” asked Isabelle.
Hearing that, Glenda hurried to get it for Isabelle. Isabelle knew one thing or two about medicine. Last time, she used her toolkit to help Glenda with her bowel movement and thus left it to her.
“I’ll get in touch tonight,” said Isabelle before she left.

The Spencer’s house welcomed Isabelle with its door open. Isabelle stood there, looking round.
Julia rushed over and pulled her by the arm. “Bella, finally you are home! Your father will explain everything you want to know to you. Don’t worry. Your company is still your company. As long as you are alive, we will be more than contented! Do take a seat. I’ve made you some warm soup. It’s good for your recovery.”
Isabelle admired Julia’s calmness. No wonder she never detected her
tricks before.
Isabelle walked to the sofa.
Tonya was sleeping on the sofa.
“What happened to her?” Isabelle asked.
Julia sighed. “She’s pregnant and can get tired easily. Besides, your death made her very upset. She fell into a coma. But don’t worry. She’ll be fine after some proper sleep.”
“Bella, perhaps you’d like to have some fruit first.”
Julia pressed a knife against Isabelle’s hands before she answered.
Julia seemed unintended, yet Isabelle detected a sense of plot. She looked down at the knife, where all of her ten fingerprints were left. She then glanced at Tonya who, as Julia claimed, was in a coma.
Isabelle sneered.
“The soup is ready. Have it warm, Bella!” Julia brought over some warm soup to Isabelle.
Isabelle took a glance and had the soup.

Julia watched as Isabelle took in a few mouthfuls. She was clearly planning something against Isabelle.
Isabelle stood up, pretending to shake a bit, and asked with a frown, “Julia, where’s Dad? I’d like to see him.”
“He’s waiting for you in the study. Just go!” Julia answered with a smile.
Isabelle went upstairs with the handles propping her up. She kept shaking her head to keep sober. When she arrived at the study, she didn’t see George. Instead, she saw two male shareholders. The two big men have always been coveting Isabelle.
“Here you are, Ms. Spencer!”
“How come you two are in Dad’s study?”
“We’re waiting for you.”
Isabelle stepped back in a panic when Julia locked the door from the outside.
“Stay away from me!” Isabelle screamed.
Having heard that, Julia went downstairs with a smile and woke Tonya up. “I thought she would become much smarter after that narrow escape. Guess what? She didn’t. Since she released photos of you and Brandon, let’s make some photos of her being a slut. They will drug her and make her insane. In due course, get some plasma and go upstairs. All you need to do is lie down.”
Tonya smiled. She couldn’t wait to see what news would come the next day. “Whether she is alive or not makes no difference. She’s not equal to me and will end up in jail anyway.”
Julia and Tonya were both contented with their plan. They stayed
